Quote: number7So my friend, Ryan, came up with this System called EBUS. He took me to the casino yesterday and he showed me how to play. Now, I am a poker player, so I find it hard to justify putting big bets down on the table. So I couldn't get myself to play baccarat. So he took me over to the sicbo where there is a 50/50 bet as well (big/small) and he played his EBUS system there. Within about 25 minutes he was up 12 units and I decided to flat bet and I made 5 units. there was a man who was following Ryan at the table. After I won my 5 units I left to go play poker and ryan continued playing with the man. By the end of the night they finished with about 70 units in their pocket. we went over to the casino bar and ryan sat down and taught the man how to play the EBUS system. All in all it was an interesting night. i have never played a table game before and it was crazy to see my friend who spent much of his life playing pro make so much money by the end of the night. If anyone is interested in this EBUS system then I suggest that you check it out at my friend's site www.enlightenedbaccarat.com or go over to the fourm www.enlightenedbaccarat.proboards.com
This sounds really good, and only $150 for the system. I doubt that there is anyone on this board that won't jump on this offer.
Quote: mkl654321Sigh. You can't beat a negative EV game with any kind betting system. Why do so many people believe in this garbage, after centuries of futility?
You would think the system hawker would at least make the page somewhat believable. The site actually says "Enlightened Baccarat is more than just a baccarat manual, it is a way of life." Wow.
If you look at the actual number of individuals who praise their "systems" around here (even if they do so emphatically), compared to the number of people who jump all over their cases when they do, it seems that it would be more appropriate for one to use "directed marketing" techniques for a new scam (uh, err, "system") using PMs to people who sound most like suckers, without subjecting the brilliant new scheme to intense public ridicule from everyone else.Quote: SOOPOODoc- we have people here who are trying to 'prove' their craps system works, people who believe that they can influence dice, people who believe that Mr. Singer has a system to beat negative EV video poker. What better place to add a new fool proof way to beat the casino. Oh, wait, I forgot the system that beats roulette, too.
Edit: Jemineez, did I really write that long, rambling, jumbled sentence myself? Help, mkl, I think I may need some English composition lessons!
Thats almost as impressive as my being up 7.5 units in three minutes.
I did that in Pai Gow (Tiles). Did it right here in the Games Section of the Wizard's forum. Ofcourse I did it without knowing anything about those tiles or how to value the hands or knowing anything at all about how to rank the hands. Do you think I have a system I might sell. I am willing to sit under a lamp for awhile and therefore be enlightened. Should I look for customers amongst the 6:5 Blackjack players wearing fanny packs or over at that big vertical wheel near the entrance way?

First of all, Doc, don't worry about constructing a long, complex, compound sentence with dependent clauses, especially if that sentence expresses a single, discrete thought. Bad English teachers excoriate their students for doing that all the time, and would-be authors who have degenerated to the lowly status of book critics offer similar misguided criticism. It's perfectly okay to use lengthy sentences--don't beat yourself up over it. In fact, many authors who are firmly entrenched in the canon used extremely long, complex sentences--Faulkner and Woolf, for example. So don't retard your eloquence because of an invalid rule :)
I think the reason people here (myself included) pile onto the system flacks is that we are SO sick of reading the next clown's, and the next and the next's, assertion that a -EV game can be beaten. EVERY system advocate thinks that you can rearrange negative numbers so as to reach a positive outcome. EVERY system huckster tries to obscure reality by raising a fog of "session results" that is meant to hide "overall losses". Just about every system flack uses a Martingale, or some tired variation thereof, and thinks he's on to something new. It is not only bullshit (annoying), but TIRED bullshit (intensely annoying).
I in particular find system slingers repulsive because I have put so much effort into finding what actual, real opportunities exist to play at +EV, and to learn the methods necessary to exploit them. It's hard work, but with real rewards. When some snake-oil salesman comes along and tries to convince the gullible that he can win, not with long hours of hard work, but by putting on a green propeller beanie and chanting the magic winning song over and over (a somewhat contrived example, I admit, and I do realize that systems like Scoblete's and Singer's are far more stupid than that), it makes my blood boil--they are, to put it simply, frauds and liars.

Not all of them. The sellers that get their system from an old dying Chinaman are to be trusted as legit. Gotta love those old Chinamen.
