Double Barrel Roulette is a new game that I found in a South African Casino. It has two wheels with the numbers 0 - 18 repeated twice and the total of both wheels is added to give the winning number. The payouts vary from 19/10 for the columns to 350/1 for hitting doubles (0 on both wheels) The table layout is very similar to standard Roulette. The pit boss told me that the house advantage was 3% making it only slightly worse than single zero Roulette but after about an hour of play it seemed that this may not be true. Most players favoured the bigger payouts which of course are less likely to occur and ignored the lesser payouts which is probably a safer bet. It seems to be a mix of roulette and sic bo but it quickly lost its appeal when the mathematically illiterate croupier struggled to add the numbers together!

Has anyone heard of this game? Does anyone have any strategy tips?

Never heard of it. I'd be up to analyzing it if I knew the full rules.

This sounds more like Sick Puppy than Sic Bo, but they do things differently in South Africa. I would be more worried about getting out alive than playing roulette, but maybe the casinos are relatively safe. But why stop at two wheels? Add a second ball for each wheel! Four times the action! Four times the payouts! Sixteen times the confusion!

I have scans of the table layout and the the wheels. The layout has all of the payouts along with the maximum bets ( minimum being 5 on the inner and 50 on the outer bets) All bets are completed before either wheel has a result.

I am a newbie to your forum so I have to ask what may be a silly question - how do I send the pics to you?

Here is the link to the pics. Bluff magazine South Africa was kind enough to allow me to put it up on their new test site for a few days.

This is a R5 denomination table. The numbers on the left of each betting area signify the maximum bet permitted on that particular bet. The inners all have a R5 minimum and the outers a R50 minimum.

Let me know if you need any more info. The pit boss said to me that the game has a 3% house advantage but he did not strike me as particular certain of that.

I would be very interested to see your take on this game. Great site and info, by the way. Thanks

The Double 350 to 1 bets are 2.77%. Any Double 17 to 1 is 5.26%. Double red 38 to 1 is 2.77%. The colunm bet at the bottom 19 to 10 are 3.60%. I'll work on the rest later. It's almost time for bed. :+)

Done. As always there may be brainoes and/or typoes. H.E. Numerator is just the numerator of the house edge. The denomitator is always 361. Should make it easier to compair house edges.
