Hi everyone,
I enjoy playing Pai Gow both in NJ and PA but very rarely can I find a game that's free of secondhand smoke. Without getting into an ethical debate - and I do respect your personal choice to smoke if you do so - does anyone know of any houses - nationwide, even - that spread Pai Gow and are smoke-free?
Some NJ and PA casinos do offer to put up no-smoking signs at certain tables at a player's request, so long as none of the other players object, but just as in restaurants that used to offer seating in smoking or non-smoking sections the smoke from the other tables can drift over to the non-smoking table(s), so for a non-smoker it might not be an ideal environment.
I think different players prefer to be able to smoke and others prefer non-smoking environments, and a mix of non-smoking and smoking tables is a step toward a middle ground, and that's definitely a better compromise than issuing a blanket rule permitting smoking at any gaming table. But personally, for me as an individual, I'd prefer to play in a smoke-free house if possible, something akin to how most U.S. poker rooms disallow smoking completely.
Cheers, and thanks
BB

DrB,
The Palace Casino in Biloxi (not to be confused with the Imperial Palace Casino in Biloxi) reports it has Pai Gow Poker. The whole casino is smoke free (the only smoke-free casino in Biloxi). Wide aisles in slot areas. AAA Four Diamond Award. Covered parking garage (helpful during summer in southern Mississippi).

If you go to Bellagio during the slow season, its pai gow tiles table is off in a little enclave of dead tables and it will be a virtually smoke-free experience as long as it's just you at the table.
The Wynn, similarly, has its pai gow tiles tables along a row that seems to be clear of smoking because it's up against a divider. All depends on whether the active patrons are smoking.
