I have a few regulars that I just back bet and cover they're 4x bets. No need to even be playing your own hand. Just stand with them.

Cleveland "JACK" doesn't let you do this anymore. They also don't let you bet on other peoples' trips bet. No "PiggyBacking" or "Back betting" of any kind, they say.

Someone wants to put, say $10, up on your trips so you say ok and hold their ten dollars off to the side. If the bet would win then you pay them yourself (i.e. give them their 10 back plus 30 from your stack if your hand gets Three of a Kind (pays 3:1 on trips)) and if it would loose then you pocket their money.

Basically you player bank their action as opposed to the House banking their action for that specific bet.

If the amount of action that they want to place exceeds your bankroll levels then you just put up what you don't feel comfortable banking on the Trips for the house to bank and handle the remained yourself (say someone wants to put 100 on your Trips but your bankroll can only support 50 in action so you put 50 up on the bet and bank the other 50 yourself).

There's not a house in the world that would let you do that. Just become a banker at a California cardroom.

I wouldn't bet the trips anyway ;-)

As for back betting. I'm not actually putting any money into play. Player checks AK I have them put out the 4x with their money. They take any action there after. So if they would now bet the flop, I take 2x of the 4x. If it wins, I get the 2x that is paid out of the 4x. If it loses, I give the player the 2x. Either way, I can see why they'd disallow it. But that's how I work it.

That's how I work it too. But they won't even let you pass chips anymore. Was doing this with a friend recently and almost got booted.

By the way, I'm sure you know this, but if you are betting on another's hand you bet 4x into a lot more marginal hands, like 10-9uns.

My local joint was letting it go last night. It was probably against their actual rules but neither the dealer nor the floor supervisor cared.

Only so far you can go and they were already hawking me. Maybe I'll try again later.

In case you don't know. The D casino on Fremont Street, Vegas, allows players to bet $1 - $50 (no sure about the high limit) on TRIPS; it does not have to be $5 or more. I guess they have sensed that more players are avoiding Trips.

Iíve been playing UTH for almost three years, about 3 times a week and getting in 2-3 hours of play. Iím still waiting for my first Quads, SF or RF. I have never seen a RF dealt when I have played and very few SF and Quads.

The stars have to be aligned to catch one of these hands. Right time - lined up with the right casino - lined up with the right table - lined up with the right seat - lined up with the right shuffle. Or maybe itís all about Ďluckí which has nothing to do with mathematics.

Everything lined up for me yesterday. I finally got my first quads. Pocket Aces, Ace on flop and Ace on River. Second hand I was dealt. Only playing $15 so I got my $150 blind payoff. Ah darn, I didn't play the TRIPS.

Onward and upward - now looking for the SF or RF. I still have slim expectations for these hands due to the probability. But I'm patient, but I won't play TRIPS.
