Quote: ck1313My local casino recently got uth. Its played normally except there are computer screens in the table that you use to make your bets, so no chips. They have a two way bad beat bonus that will payout whether you fold or stay. So my question is if the dealer puts up four of a kind with an ace kicker should i fold so I lose the hand and get paid on the bad beat, which is 500-1. If I don't i will tie and not get paid or will the computer still count my hand as a tie even if I fold. I've asked the dealers and they have no idea. Has anyone else seen uth dealt like this?
It's amazing how incompetent some dealers are in the games they deal when nuanced situations come up. I once tied the dealer with a 6-7-8 straight in three card poker, and she took my ante and play bets, and just gave me back an ante bonus and paid off the pair plus. I had to argue with not just her, but at least three floor managers for an hour that they owed me an Ante and Play back, and they had to talk over the rules in the pit for a very long time and then check the cameras. And everyone sitting with me at the table "knew" I was wrong, and couldn't believe a relatively young player (I'm in my late 20s) would be arrogant enough to argue with the pit bosses. Eventually, someone higher up came over and explained to the dealer how the game works and I received my money. Meanwhile, I was amazed at what I thought was a very easy situation.
But back uth, he correct answer, as above, is that folding on purpose has no bearing on the bad beat. Hopefully you made the Trips bet. I did see an instance several years ago (I wasn't playing but observed it) where there were quad 6's with a K on the board. There were three people playing at the table, and, luckily, every single one of them had one Ace and the dealer had garbage, so the bad beat was paid.
I agree its much simpler and faster. If you're just playing for fun or you somehow have an advantage then it's fine.Quote: ck1313I thought the same way about virtual chips at first and although I'd prefer chips the virtual ones aren't as bad as i thought they would be. Especially if you like to add singles to the top of your bets. It gives you a little more flexibility on betting without always having to get change from the dealer.
If you're looking to get a good rating and lose less per Hr it might not be the best thing.
