I'm not a mathematical buffoon, but I have trouble figuring out how much I can bet on the don't pass odds on any given point. How do I use the pertinent information--the max odds allowed at the table, my don't pass line bet, and the point--to quickly figure out the max odds bet.
This is the only craps bet I'm interested in, and I'd like to stop having to ask the dealer all the time.

On a point of 4 or 10, you can bet 2x the odds multiple.
On a point of 5 or 9, you can bet 1.5x the odds multiple.
On a point of 6 or 8, you can bet 1.2x the odds multiple.
For example, if the casino allows 10x odds you can lay 20x on a 4 or 10, 15x on a 5 or 9, and 12x on a 6 or 8.

Of course when you run into 5X4X3X it is easy for dealers but also for "Don't Players"

at a 3x4x5x table, the max you can lay will always be 6x your dont pass bet.
3x2 = 6
4x1.5 = 6
5x1.2 = 6
3x2 = 6
4x1.5 = 6
5x1.2 = 6

Yes, math works, sometimes hard to remember the keys when you need to.
I just figure what the odds PAY on the pass line and that is what the max odds you can LAY on the don't side.
Examples: $5 pass with $50 odds (10x odds allowed, point 6 or 8) ODDS PAYS $60 so you can lay $60 max odds on the don't side.
$5 pass with $15 odds (3x odds allowed on the 4 or 10) ODDS PAYS $30 so you can lay $30 max odds on the don't side.
sometimes the casino allows a player to push the odds on the pass line but not on the don't side. The dealer then will correct you with the proper amount to lay.
