Was hoping some of the Vegas veterans could help me out. In Atlantic City there's occasionally a baccarat game on the floor of the Golden Nugget where players are allowed to touch the cards just like the high-rollers; I believe it's referred to as "midi-baccarat" instead of the more common mini variant found most often on casino floors? Sometimes the minimum at this table can be as low as $25. I was just wondering if any of the casinos in Vegas offer a similar game, and if so, which would have the lowest minimum bet? Thanks!
We have a thread of long ago that explained the three: Full Table, Midi and Mini-Baccarat. There were even images of the various table layouts and discussions as player position number four and thirteen on the layouts.
My favorite is the Palms. Great ambiance, friendly dealers, players aren't jerks (usually), lots of hot women walking around.
Quote: mdsBut in Vegas you cant touch the cards.. Only at the "Big" table you can.
Huh? You can squeeze the cards at all the places I mentioned.
$25 midi bac is an awesome game because of how slow it moves (and obviously the very low house edge). Actually getting to touch the cards just adds to the whole experience. Thanks again for your help!
Quote: mdsNot at a mini table? Did I read the question wrong? If so sorry.
No, not at mini bac, but you can at midi bac.
Quote: IIDXiasThanks Beethoven! We'll be sure to check one of these places out (actually I think we were thinking of going to The Palms anyway, now we just have an extra reason!).
You're welcome. I think you'll like the Palms.
FYI, if you're thinking about playing at the Rio, be warned that they have this weird bac rule where Player MUST open first, even when nobody has a bet on Player. For example, if you're at the table alone and bet Banker, the dealer will flip over the cards for Player immediately after giving you the cards for Banker.
All in all, this is a minor issue, but some people (such as myself) prefer to squeeze the cards prior to seeing what Player has. I also like the option of having the dealer flip over just one card for Player while I look at my cards. Not gonna happen at the Rio.
Quote: ChumpChangeI found a $25 - $1K mini or midi game 100 miles away from me, and they have a $50 - $2K full game. I need $1K or $2K buy-ins for those. If there were just $100 minimums, I guess I'd need $3K - $5K buy-ins and lots of CTR forms.

Do you necessarily need to buy in for that much? $100 min if fine for me, but I'm only going to sit with $1k and go double or nothing.

$3000 is usually the bare minimum that I buy into a $100 min table with, but I'm not trying to go double or nothing.
One thing I didn't see when I sat at the table, is the Dragon 7 variation, where you don't pay commission on Banker wins, but of course the catch is a Banker 7 with 3 cards is a Push if Player has 6 or less...
Of course the first hand I play hits this, and then it hits 2 hands later and a 3rd time on hand #7. So that House edge for no commission Bacc got me real quick with $150 in profit Gone With the Wind!
The other two whales playing $25 on Dragon 7 were quite thrilled however... SMH
