I'm thinking of paying a visit to see the game under actual casino conditions. As long as I'm going out that way, are there any other attractions, gambling or otherwise, the forum recommends in that neck of the woods? I've driven through Kansas I think five times and I must say I didn't exactly find it overflowing with excitement. However, maybe I didn't know where to look. I welcome Kansas City suggestions as well.
That is my neck of the woods. Plenty of things to do in my hometown of Lawrence, if you are headed that direction. I would avoid Topeka though.
When are you thinking about visiting?
From the website is looks like they have Three Card Poker as well. Hopefully they put Mulligan Poker in close proximity to the regular Three Card Poker game so that there are players with instant recognition of Mulligan being a variant of the game they already like to play. Of course you have no control over that.
I also noticed on the site that the tribe lists their annual Pow Wow where they celebrate their Indian Heritage as occurring on the last weekend in August (under the About tab). I have not seen a Pow Wow celebration live before, but I bet it is interesting and there are likely parts of that celebration that are open to the public for viewing.

+1
No suggestion on what to do though...

Oklahoma Joe's is about an hour away from Sac & Fox. Luckily for me its only five minutes from my office.

It's been years since I lived there, but you might check out Harrah's NKC. It has what is probably still the softest Limit poker game I have ever seen, so that was lucrative. You can also catch a good musical at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, if that's still there, that's pretty cool, if there's something good scheduled. I saw a few there, including Michele Lee in Hello, Dolly!, my is she a gorgeous woman. You could have told me she was 50, and I'd never have believed it, she was over 60 at the time.
The KC Zoo is very good. The BBQ is outstanding almost anywhere. You will NEVER eat a better steak than one of the independent roadhouses in the area if you feel adventurous. Do not eat at a Chinese restaurant. Anywhere. Otherwise, the favorite pastimes are spitting on dog's backs, jumping on gas station air hoses, watching corn grow, and cow tipping. Oh, mustn't forget Meth Lab Central. HUGE problem there in rural areas.
I second the suggestion about HKC. Crowded, hospitable, good games. State of Missouri (you're on the western edge there) has money caps in hours increments. Don't be surprised if they cut you off until such-and-such a time. Required to use a Harrah's card in all slots and at all tables. Other weird rules.
Half my family lives north or south of KC, near Maryville, probably just across the Missouri from where you're going, or south on the way to Springfield. You need help, they are the type that will come help, no questions asked. If you want contact numbers, PM me.
Many congrats on the install!!

Kansas is better to drive across than Nebraska.

I hear there are people who live in Neb on purpose.
Just a rumor, though.

Fiorella's Jack Stack in Overland Park Kansas has the best pulled pork, in my estimation, and I tried a good few BBQ places. Oh, and since Wizard likes burgers so much, I'd certainly recommend LC's Hamburgers, if that's still around, North of the River, near Parkville. While he's there, he should swing by Malay Café on Northwest Barry Road and have the greatest cup of coffee he's ever likely to drink. Cedar Café in Parkville for some great Mediterranean food and stuffed grape leaves to die for.
Kansas City has Chinese restaurants? LOL Yeah, and the pizza all sucks, too, with exception to Minsky's, which is awesome. Definitely check out Minsky's if you will be North of the River.
Quote: rdw4potusThe KC zoo is great. So is the art museum. Kauffman stadium is a great place to watch a baseball game, too. And the greater KC gambling market usually has a few new/different games, so you may have the chance to play/review some of the area's other new placements.
I was at the art museum, as well. They have a lot of art, most of it is old, and you can't touch anything. It's okay, though.

LOL! You have caused me to waste a perfectly good sip of coke, sir!
I never know what to do/think about that sort of thing. The zoo is good, but it's hard to show lions better or worse than anyone else - all zoos are kind of the same. Same with the museum. There's art. Most of it is old, some of it is pretty. Either one is a decent way to kill an afternoon, perhaps depending on the weather.
So I made to Sac & Fox last night around 9:30. They were dealing craps, blackjack and Mulligan Poker. I bought in Mulligan Poker for $100, it was a $5 minimum table. There was a couple playing and seemed pretty disinterested and left after I had been playing for about 15 minutes.
I normally plays craps or blackjack, so I think normal 3CP would seem just as foreign to me as Mulligan Poker did. After about an hour, I was down my initial $100 and was about to move to craps, but they closed the table. So I bought back in and got this beauty on this first hand.

I played for another hour or so and cashed out with a $325 net win.
I feel compelled to defend my home state in this thread, but this casino is really in the middle of nowhere. After about 10:00 pm, the table games players consisted of me at Mulligan Poker and two rough-looking characters playing blackjack. The craps did offer 10x odds and $3 minimum, but it was closed.
While I did enjoy playing Mulligan Poker, this is an odd little Indian casino in BFE. So it is hard to recommend, unless you live nearby (doubtful) or invented a table game.

Thanks for trying out my game and congratulations on the straight flush!
Thanks to everybody else for their advice on things to do in the area. I am tentatively planning a visit in early October, assuming the game makes it that long.

I'll reimburse the lost Coke, should we ever meet!
My usual standard for a zoo is that the majority of the animals still be alive, I tend to be disappointed if most of them are dead. My Pro Parenting Tip for the day is not to go full-on Michael Jackson and dangle your kid over the fence separating yourself from the exhibit, just Google, "Child Killed Pittsburgh Zoo," or something along those lines, and you'll see what I mean.
There's an interesting social dynamic at the museum, and that's really its best quality. There are really three camps at a museum:
A.) The people who don't fit in either Camp B or C, which is about half.
B.) This is the camp of people who will ponder every exhibit and offer a litany of commentary on each piece without actually forming a committal opinion on anything. These people tend to snicker at camps A and C.
C.) The people who recognize the people in Camp B, and spend their time whispering sarcastic comments, eye-rolling, or snickering at the people in that camp.
It's always a good time when Camps B & C intermingle, as the sometimes do:
Camp B Guy: (Blah, blah, blah, bunch of art words)...I couldn't help but notice yourself also mulling this piece, sir, if I may inquire, what are your observations? Feel free to be candid, if it suits you.
Me: Well, I don't think it would make a very good T-Shirt, I'm going to go look at this other one, now.
Camp B Guy: Do you design clothing?
Me: No, but I wear it, sometimes.

I believe it will, if you have a casino that has a Craps Table closed at about 10:00p.m. on a Thursday night, any action is better than no action, so as long as a few people take to MP, I'd say you're probably good.
I do not know the ins and outs of the table game business or how in the world the game ended up in this casino, but my experience with the game itself was positive.
Quote: tgarrettcpaShe kept complaining about having to redraw for a King to qualify. I tried to explain the effect on HE with the King qualifier, but to no avail. And I had to personally instruct the next dealer how the game works.
Wiz, you may need to get out there quicker than October if they are really in this bad a shape on dealing procedures.....you don't want to lose an install on bad performance because they aren't playing the game correctly.
Not every player is going to assist in a positive way like tgarrettcpa.....I always did like those CPA types ;-)

Ha, a flush still beats a straight right?

Um not in 3-card...lol
Thanks for the report. Hopefully the game can gain traction. Sounds like a rough place to do that in though.

It didn't go well. They pulled it out before I ever made specific plans to visit.
