I realize that you don't care for this, but again, my measuring stick is the period since 04/26. Again, because on that date I made a rather significant change to the way games were picked. Nobody else should care. However, I am using that because it what I will base my decision on as to whether this is a worthwhile endeaver. I will also calculate an ROI at season's end. A REAL ROI. That which is used to measure any investment or financial instrument in the real world, and is comparable to the ROIs published and used for any investment or financial instrument in the real world. I hope to remain ahead for that period. So far, so good.
I don't know if I will continue this thru the World Series. I wonder whether the formula would hold up thru the playoffs. I guess it would, but I don't know.

3 units are never bet. I had added an additional pitching variable that would cause me to make it a 2Xs play. However, its recent performance is making me wonder..........may be getting dropped since it is causing so much of my loss.

Yesterday was a net loss of -100 and the YTD is now -1489. The +130dogs again lost with a net of -200 and its YTD is now -18 (might be the first time all year that it's gone negative). Lastly, the 2Xs plays were a net loser of -200 and its YTD is now -716.

your selection and try and figure out where you went wrong. Home field, starting picture, 1st road game, etc.

Thanks Buzz. I appreciate it. A while back I had stated that I thought that the formula got convoluted, over time, and that maybe it would be best to simplify it some. I'm a big believer in the KISS principle. I think I'll take a look at that......

OK, help me out here if you will. I've only been following MLB for about 45 years and I don't get the betting lines. It's really because I've never considered betting on it. For instance, today:
Chicago -110 at Kansas City 100
So, pick a dollar amount and please tell me how I would be this game, either way.
BTW.. if anyone were to bet this game, even though Hocheaver is pitching for KC, the White Sox are 1-7 over their last 8 in KC.

If you were to bet on Chicago then you would invest $110 in order to win $100. If you Chicago won then you would receive $210 (the $110 that you invested plus $100 in winnings). If Chicago were to lose then your loss would be $110.
If you were to bet on Kansas City then you would invest $100 in order to win $100. If Kansas City won then you would receive $200 (the $100 that you invested plus $100 in winnings). If Kansas City were to lose then your loss would be $100.

Okay, I'm calling it quits on this little experiment for the year. I end up with a net loss of -2,675 for the year. Too frustrating to continue at this point.
Since 04/26, I had a net loss of -982. The 2Xs plays were killers. They had a net loss of -1,604. Overall, It had picked 266 winners and 275 losers. Since 04/26 I would have realized an annualized loss on investment of -113.89%. Certainly not a good investment. Until I improve upon the formula, I'll stick to real life investing in public markets.
