Best way to use free bets?

Arizona is set to start sports betting (mobile and in person once the books are built) on 9/9 with no fewer than 15 sportsbooks offering action. Most of the operators are offering free bets in exchange for signing up, making a deposit, making a bet, or some combination of the three. Other than making the minimum deposits/bets to claim all of the bonuses to maximize that value, I have a question about the free bets.
What's the best way to use them to my advantage? I'm a novice sports bettor, so I don't know if the best ROI to turn the offers into cash would be to either bet both sides of the same game at the same amount, to ensure some cash won, or to use the free money on longer shot bets to try and gain a high multiple, knowing that it will be less likely to hit. With all of my signups, I believe that I will have about $2,000 in free bets in mostly $25 increments across the different operators to use.
