That's very kind of you! I didn't want to ask.
Would you like to take over posting scores and updates? I'd be very pleased if you want to do it - I was just doing it manually in the absence of troopscott.
Yes, I can post updates periodically. (I don't suspect I'll be able to do it every day.)Quote: beachbumbabsWould you like to take over posting scores and updates? I'd be very pleased if you want to do it - I was just doing it manually in the absence of troopscott.

Great, thanks very much! I was trying to update every 3-6 games, so 2x a week or so.

I don't believe there are any further games until Wednesday, Dec 26th, so the next update won't be until late Wed night.
Quote: AyecarumbaI’m in. If Troop wins the “”You “Suck” award in the NFL game, maybe we file a WOV lien. Hehe
That's correct, I hadn't checked this thread in awhile, but that's actually what I popped in to suggest. If the $100 is supposed to come from TroopScott anyway and he wins $75 for the You Suck prize, I don't see anything inequitable about sending that $75 over to this prize pool if we don't hear from him.
Also, it is correct he has been using Default Picks the last few weeks in the other game.

Just to give you guys an update on where this stands; it is now extremely likely that Troopscott will win the $75 You Suck prize in the WoV Picks Game.
The only way Troopscott will fail to win the prize is if he goes 5-0 the final week (his Default strategy does not include any possibility of a Confidence Pick) and Scolist goes 0-6. I guess I haven’t checked the potential effect of one No Decision on one side or the other, but it certainly couldn’t be more than one ND.***
While SOOPOO actually has a worse record than Scolist, he’s actually mathematically eliminated from being able to win the prize. Though his record is worse, he’s got too many wins by count which brings his, ‘floor,’ up.
It appears that $50 was originally to go to each prize in this game, so I guess that just becomes $37.50 for each prize.
***EDIT-I just checked on that, and any ND would result in TroopScott winning. Scolist must go 0-6 while TroopScott goes 5-0.

So your saying I actually have a chance to win the "YOU SUCK!" prize? Does that come with a trophy too?

There are 19 games left. Three of them are tomorrow, so I'll post another update tomorrow evening.
Note: I hope I don't lose by one game. I screwed up. My simple method was to pick all favorites of 3 points or less, and take all underdogs of 3.5 points or more. Which means I should have taken Minnesota +4 against Georgia Tech. But I accidentally picked Georgia Tech. And as it turns out, Minnesota covered... which means I have one less win than I otherwise would have, with this selection method, at this point.
Well, you will still be tied for the lead. Onenickelmiracle is currently tied with you and also has Syracuse.Quote: gordonm888Goodness, I may be in the lead now if Syracuse holds onto its lead over WVU.
Quote: beachbumbabsI held back the tiebreakers, but I do have them. I'll post them now, if you want.
Babs, I think you might as well post everyone's tie-breaking score now. I think there's a good chance two or more people will be tied for the lead after the last game has been played.
I don't see why you still couldn't do so. You have no advantage over the rest of us if you haven't seen our tie-breaking scores.Quote: gordonm888Yikes, I don't think I ever submitted a tie-breaker. Crap.

Florida vs. Michigan is a big game for me tomorrow, since only one other person (Onenicklemiracle) also picked Florida. Also, Virginia vs. South Carolina is a big game, since only one other person (Drich) picked Virginia.
The final game tomorrow, Arkansas vs. Clemson is big game for Gordonm888, since he is the ONLY person who picked Nevada.
At this point it is mathematically impossible for JohnnyQ to win, even if all his remaining picks are correct. (If so, he would finish with 23 wins but Onenicklemiracle would have 25 wins. Sorry Johnny.)
I have all tiebreakers. Will pull them out and post them.

There are just 5 games left. All five remaining games are tomorrow.
If Drich finishes 5-0 he takes 1st Place with 25 wins. I finish in 2nd Place with 22 wins.
If I finish 5-0, I take 1st Place with 25 wins. Drich will be in 2nd Place with 22 wins.
If Gordonm888 finishes 5-0 he takes 1st Place, with 23 wins. I finish in 2nd with 22 wins.
If Onenicklemiracle finishes 5-0, he will tie for 1st Place with Drich, both with 23 wins. (And he will have an edge on the tiebreaker score, as he will be closest to the actual over/under.)
If Ayecarumba finishes 5-0, he will tie for 2nd place with two others. Drich would take 1st Place with 23 wins.
If TomG finishes 5-0, he will tie for 3rd Place with two others, behind Drich and Gordonm888.
if Beachbumbabs finishes 5-0, she will finish in fourth place with 18 wins. Drich would finish in 1st Place with 23 wins.
If JohhnyQ finishes 5-0, he is still at the bottom of the standings with 16 wins, so he unofficially wins the Last Place prize.
Drich and I have three games, of the five, that are different between the two of us. I think it most likely that the overall winner will be him or me, and the one who does so will win (obviously) two of these three games. (But, as shown above, Gordonm888 and Onenicklemiracle can also still win it .) Obviously, I am now really kicking myself for mistakenly picking Georgia Tech instead of Minnesota, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, as that one extra win at this point would be huge for me.
We have to wait until Monday, January 7th to break any ties. (The over/under for that Clemson/Alabama game is currently posted at 59.5.)

Quote: beachbumbabsYou posted money amounts. I take it you're calculating using the $75 troopscott won for yousuck, rather than the whole $100 he pledged, correct?
Yes. I believe I posted the breakdown correctly.
1st Place: $167.50 ((8 x $25 x .65) + ($75 x .5))
2nd Place: $30.00 (8 x $25 x .15)
3rd Place: $20.00 (8 x $25 x .10)
Last Place: $57.50 ((8x $25 x 0.10) + ($75 x .5))
Total = $275.00 (8 players x $25.00 each + $75.00 from troopscott = $275.00)
Quote: onenickelmiracleI'll just say congratulations to Drich now.
Why do I have a feeling that is the kiss of death. I feel an 0-5 coming.
Ed, thank you for compiling all of the stats. Good luck to all.
It came down to the Rose Bowl game for me and Drich. I picked Washington and Drich picked Ohio State. Washington scored three unanswered touchdowns in the 4th quarter, their last touchdown very late, which wasn't enough to win the game for them... but it was enough to cover the spread.
Final Standings after all 38 games: (38 games, not 39. Recall the First Responder Bowl was canceled.)

As you can see, since there are no ties to break the tie-breaker score we all submitted does not need to come into play.
I'd appreciate if someone could confirm the above results.
http://edcollins.com/wizard_bowl_game_contest.xlsx
My simple method of picking all favorites of 3 points or less, and all dogs of 3.5 points or more, paid off.
I suspect that if troopscott ever comes back to the forum, he owes JohnnyQ and me $12.50 each. (Does anyone suspect he might have passed away?)
Thanks to everyone for playing.
My system...ugh. 2nd to last is about as bad as it gets.
Yeah, I really am concerned about troopscott. Can't imagine it's anything good. If ANYBODY knows him, or has an idea what's going on there, I'd really like to know. It can be by PM if preferred.
It is particularly ironic that the Rose Bowl costed me the victory. I am from Ohio so I have always been an Ohio State fan. I was feeling rather confident that I was going to win the contest when the score was 28-3 in favor of Ohio State. When Washington scored that last touchdown with less than a minute to go I knew I was doomed. But then, there was hope. Washington decided to go for a two point conversion and threw an interception which the Ohio State started to run back for a miracle two points which would have covered the spread. Unfortunately for me, he was tackled about 30 yards short of the end zone. My dreams of being the 2018 WOV Bowl Contest Winner were crushed.

Wow! I didn't get to see the game... just checked the score from time to time. I had no idea it ended this way. I'm probably glad I didn't see it... I probably would have sworn at the tv a few times, as he was running towards the endzone.
