Congrats on that 38-1 tie bet! I am surprised two generally even fighters would have that high of odds for a draw!

I would be in for such a contest, but if I understand correctly, I would have to funnel my winnings through a sportsbook? If that's the case I'm out.

troopscott,

You didn't mention the sports book part of it. You're making me into a de facto bookie by doing this, and I'm not willing to be put into that position. I'm pretty sure it's not legal for me to be involved in money moving like that.

I think it's very generous of you to offer a seed pool. I'm not sure why you wouldn't just cash your winnings (nice hit!) and use that for the pool if you want to seed it, but it's your money and your game. However, I can't be involved in the transaction if you're going to do that - Florida is quite restrictive on who can do these things.

I will say, should you choose to escrow entries yourself, I think you're good for it - you've been very prompt and responsive on previous pools. So if other folks want to play, I would encourage them based on your actions so far.

No no no all entry fees are to you and to be disbursed by you to the individuals. The sports book thing is a bonus just added by me to be clear. It will be moved from my account to theirs.

Bonus details are still being worked out but I had a $500 bet on the fury fight to tie at 38-1. A friend convinced me to make the bet. I usually stick to mma and baseball and horse racing

Long story short I am going to transfer money into 4 accounts at the sportsbook into the winners accounts.
The discussion I have had for them to do this, is the money has to be played through once before withdraw. I will get final word today if they can do it.

This is not a affialite type deal where I get anything it is strictly just me chipping in and them being gracious enough to help. You playing through once gets them a little wctionnfornhelping set it up.

My initial thoughts are I will seed the accounts with 150, 100, 50 and 50 but I will finalize that today when they tell me how much they will let me move.

So if I win money in the pool, I then would have Babs bet my prize money on sports wagers until I meet the play through requirement ?

I have eliminated this sports book part. I posted from my phone and didn't go to detail. Nobody's money was going to go to a sports book account I hit a big win and was going to move some of my winnings over it to the winners accounts but it has been interpreted wrong so easier to eliminate it and move forward. I will add $100 to the final prize pool $50 to the winner and $50 to the last place finisher via paypal or amazon

hehe... Is there a "You Suck Bowls" perpetual trophy? I'm in, pending details on tiebreakers. If there is a three way tie for first, will they split 1st, second and third, or is there a tie breaker score prediction for the BCS Championship etc.?

I'm pretty sure it's still a go. Troopscott is a bit MIA, though, on these questions.

Is this tournament still happening? Not crazy about paying the entrance fee for a 4-person tournament.

Wouldn't that be all the more reason to do so, assuming the added $100 still holds true?

1st Prize = 65% of entries + $50.00
2nd Prize = 15% of entries
3rd Prize = 10% of entries
Booby Prize = 10% of entries + $50.00

Okay, I am still unclear as to whom we send our 41 picks to. Babs? Troopscott? Ed Collins?

I apologize for my confusion.

Don't send them to me. I'm sending my 40 picks (39 games + total score tiebreaker) to Troopscott.

My confidence in Troopscott is flagging.

Has he abandoned his contest?

Let's give him/her the benefit of the doubt for now. Life happens, people get busy. The extra prize pool money is nice, but if it doesn't materialize I would vote to just go with the % prize structure.

The only reason I'm IN at all is because of that extra prize pool money. :)

C'mon in, Bear. At worst, I'll send your escrow back.

troopscott has not signed in for a week now. No idea what's going on. 2 people have sent their entries to me as backup, and I sent my own to myself about 5 days ago.

If anyone else wants to send their entries to me, they may do so, and if someone wants to volunteer to hold mine, I'd appreciate it. (I'll forward what I sent myself, to preserve the time stamp on my copy.)

Thanks for your help on this. I guess I'm out. It doesn't appear as if there will be any added bonus money (I assume he didn't send that to you to hold in escrow) and that bonus money is what made it +EV and the only reason why I wanted to play. I don't follow College football at all - none of these bowl games have any interest to me.

I understand, and if he doesn't show up today and/or send his escrow before midnight Vegas time, I suggest I simply refund the players.

You never know what may have happened in someone's life, so I'm not going to speculate. But let's see what happens yet today.

Well, it's disappointing not to have heard from troopscott. I think the writing is on the wall ( unfortunately ), but what if we give this a few more days and see what happens ? In that scenario, I would propose NOT counting any of the Bowl games on Saturday 12/15 to keep the final decision on whether the contest goes forward impartial.

I suppose it is unlikely, but if troopscott had an overseas business trip, it might be hard to communicate. If we don't hear anything before next weekend, I guess we dissolve the contest and refund the money. I'm sorry we all wasted our time, mostly BBB.

A bet is a bet, there is not any quitting this. If you entered, he will put up the $100 or be gone.It happens all the time you go in assuming, and that's the risk you take. Suck on your thumb and shove it up your *** or vice versa. It's truthfully in my best interest to want a refund, but I say there are no refunds. If you doubt the veracity of the deal, then your money shouldn't be in.

BBB can submit her pics to me if she doesn't have anyone else.

I am OK with whatever. I also understand EdC's position. Hopefully troopscott will reiterate his participation and use the escrow service.

Well we all have to send our picks to the same somebody to compile them before the first game starts, right ? Who is that gonna be ?

This is a screenshot of the picks I sent myself, showing time and date. I have forwarded a copy to EdCollins.

It's going to be 3 weeks before we have a result, so there's still time to figure out the payoff. I suggest we post picks in a couple hours, before the game starts, just to make a record of them.

I have quite a few of the picks from those entered, sent as backups. Give me a couple minutes to check who I have.

(I let the fact that JohnnyQ and I corresponded about the game go without masking in the screenshot above. It seems self-evident we would have, so I don't think it was a PM violation to show that.)

I have a copy of all picks except from EdCollins, who said before he might be out without troopscott's bonus.

I would suggest to Ed that he send them to me or post them just to hold his place, without him or anyone giving up their right to withdraw for a refund, pending hearing something from troopscott.

I will post everyone's picks in 2 hours, including Ed's if I get them. I will also vouch for Ed posting a little late, if necessary. He's waaay too honest to change whatever he sent to troopscott.
