Is a rain delay considered a game suspension?
Quote: hollywoodtoledo"All regular season and exhibition baseball games are considered official after 5 innings of play (4½ if the home team is winning). If a game is called or suspended after 5 innings, the winner is determined by the score after the last full inning of play – unless the home team scores to tie or takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning, in that case, the winner is then determined by the score at the time the game is called."
Is a rain delay considered a game suspension?
Not according to the Official Baseball Rules:
Quote: Official Rules of Baseball, Rule 2.00A suspended game is a called game which is to be completed at a later date.
The league will not "call" a tied game (or a game that was tied at the end of the last inning completed but the visiting team has since taken the lead) if at all possible, even if the game has to be completed months later, unless it gets to the point where it has no bearing on who gets into the playoffs; that's what "suspended" means.
Quote: Gabes22A suspended game is like what happened between the Royals and White Sox on Friday, April 24th. The game was tied 2-2 after 8 innings when the game was suspended due to a rainout, the game was to be completed the following day but that was rained out, and it completed April 26th with the White Sox winning 3-2.
And most importantly, in a game like this, bets should still be valid. If not, I'd recommend not gambling there.
