I bet on the Orioles at home. With all the civil unrest, an uncomfortable boston team was going to lose to a home team that needed a win. I generally like these algorithms/models, but adding in some "human" judgement can help too, i find.

I would love to know what preseason algorithms/models had the Mets & Astros?!?! leading their divisions after the first game of the season.
On a more serious note, do algorithms/models work as good at the end of the season when to me it would seem that more outside influences can effect some teams & games. I noticed on 4/25 you picked Cleveland to win, but that was before the last minute starting pitching change and I wonder if your model would have changed its prediction with that updated info.

Well done surrender88s! I do my best to not try to re-think the picks that are being made. I had done that in the past and found that there was no net gain. I would win some that I flipped and there are some that I lost. It turned out not to be worth the time. But that's just me.

zoobrew, my experience over the past couple of years is that it has worked at the end of the season. The most troublesome time for me has been around All-Star break. Insofar as the pitching changes goes, because it just one of many variables, I find that accounting for it had little effect on net wins and definitely was not worth the trouble of scrambling around trying to take it into account.

BTW, I should clarify that my algorithm is much more hitting weighted than pitching. It goes against the grain of the old adage about needing pitching.

If I wanted to try and go 0 for 9, I couldn't do it. Yet somehow yesterday it happened....I went 0 for 9. Wiped out half of what I had won YTD. I don't know if I ever had such a bad day. The consecutive days of losing has now hit 3 days. I believe my longest losing streak is either 5 or 6 consecutive days. Since I am still playing with the house's money, I'm going to dip back into my bankroll and double up on a few select picks starting today.
