Which leads to a question about the other side of the curve... Assuming all the players play through the end, and genuinely attempt to win it, what will be the highest score?

I am going to guess 275 +/- 5

I think it will be lower - around 250

I had 92 this week. Hit the first perfection in the Seattle game and that was my best game with a low of 3. Butchered the Denver game with 57 in that one. Brutal. Looks like a lot of us whiffed there though.

Mission, I'm so sorry... I think I found a few errors again, all with the Pats/Ravens game:

Malz9 prediction:
Patriots by 10 --- Combined Score 48

Pats win by 4 (diff of 6)
66 points scored (diff of 18)

6 + 18 = 24 score (not 8)

================================

Mission146 prediction:
New England Patriots By 7 --- Combined Score 47

Pats win by 4 (diff of 3)
66 points scored (diff of 19)

3 + 19 = 22 score (not 23)

================================

Terapined prediction:
Ravens By 7 --- combined score 46

Pats win by 4 (diff of 22) (7 + 4) x 2
66 points scored (diff of 20)

22 + 20 = 42 score (not 17)

Everything else looks okay.

You a CPA? You work for a big 4 firm? They let you still focus on auditing during tax season?

The reason I ask, I have accounting and finance degrees. I love auditing, but hate tax. I hate tax so much, my profession is in the finance field, which I enjoy way better. I think if I could get an auditing only(I know MOSTLY would be a more realistic term) accounting gig, that would be a decent gig too.

So the question before the board is, "Which is the better strategy for the upcoming round?":

1) Stay aggressive with predictions and try to put it out of reach before the Superbowl.
2) Be conservative and just try to stay in contention?

I don't want to stray too far from the topic of this thread, but no, no, and no.

I'm an internal auditor, for a company that has 450 or so employees. I've taken a few college accounting classes and a few internal auditing classes and seminars, but no, I don't have (nor want) a CPA. And my work has nothing to do with taxes or even our own financial statements, for that matter.

What I do as an auditor is probably very different than that of your "typical" auditor.

A FEW examples: I'll perform quarterly payroll audits at each of our units (different businesses) to make sure we are following all of the state and federal payroll laws, including but not limited to making sure all of our hourly employees are punching out for their mandatory lunches. I'll ride along with our video game route drivers, to make sure they are following all of our company policies. I'll create charts for our top managers, so they can better see revenue trends. I monitor the ATM transcations at each unit, to make sure we are being reimbursed propertly, from the ATM company. Over the years I've created (and now maintain) dozens of different Excel spreadsheets that are used on a daily basis, some of which invovle VBA macros that are thousands of lines long. After helping our payroll clerk learn a new payroll program, I somehow became the backup payroll clerk in case something ever happens to her or she wishes to take a vacation during a payroll week. I visit each of our units reguarly, looking to make sure we are up to date on all of the ADA standards, to make sure all fire extinguishers have been serviced reguarly, and in general to make sure everyone is "doing their job."

I have a total of 23 years with the company, but not all of it is consecutive. (I had a short stint as a computer programmer and then data analyst, for awhile.)

Basically I keep an eye on our company, and look for ways to improve revenue, protect assets, and help all of our dozen or so managers in any way that I can, etc., etc., etc.

1.) I've made the necessary corrections to the Standings and Results.

2.) Even though the Lines are obvious, you may notice I am not posting them today. That's because both games are now on Sunday, so there is no need to post lines until tomorrow or send out PM's until Friday because Picks will not be due until Saturday at 23:59 EST.

It was quite a game. A game of inches. The pack came up short by inches on numerous plays. They must still be reeling from this loss.

I think the blown onside kick was THE key play of the game. While the Pack used many other opportunities to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, this one really punched them in the gut.

Seems to me they grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory.

I can't imagine the pain of being a Green Bay fan after that game. Fortunately, I was for Seattle :-).

Did you notice Mission threw a Hail Mary on the Patriots in the contest, to win by 31. Actual win was by 38. His other picks were not so great though.

As a life long Packer fan who made the 10 hour round trip to see the Green and Gold play four games this year including the playoffs against Dallas, let me paste what I put on my seldom used FB page "That was the most devastating, painful, testicle crushing, unimaginable, Packer loss I've ever witnessed. No doubt we were the better team, and to get beat in this manner is soul crushing."

To add insult to injury, while I won on GB +7.5 and GB second quarter +3, I lost on the ML, lost on an exact matchup GB vs NE, and now don't have a chance on the future bet of GB wining the SB.

To make matters even worse (as if that's possible), one of my idiot friends decided to bet me straight up on the game at halftime because he was sure Seattle was coming back, of course I took it, GB was up by 16! It's not even the money, it wasn't much, it's just that I'm going to have to hear about it forever!!

And for the final straw, when Burnett made the last interception of Wilson with 5 minutes left, I bought a celebratory drink for about 25 Packer fans at my table and around me so we could drink it when the clock hit zero. We drank it alright, in shame and defeat. Auggghhhhh! I'm more than a little bitter about it. Don't know if I'll watch the Super Bowl or not.

Didn't mean to derail the thread, carry on.

I actually thought about seeing what kind of LAY someone would give me against it, expecting to lose, of course. I thought someone might offer something crazy, though.

I've pretty much been intentionally taking shots since the Conference Semi-Finals, I took shots on both NFC dogs in that game. Seemed like the only way to win.

Assuming his spread and total were correlated, that comes to a final score of 48-17. 6 TD + 2 FG for NE and 2 TD + 1 FG for IND

Yeah, the 17 for IND was a legit prediction. I never thought NE would hold them to seven...IND needs to deflate their football's better.

Wizard's Margin of Victory prediction was only off by 1 point in the Sea/GB game, and his prediction of 47 total points scored in this game was only off by 3 points. Thus, I think his overall score for this game should be 4 points and not 8.

If so, he will have a total of 192 total points so far, instead of 196.

Please double-check me.

Everything else looks good.

Correct and corrected, thank you!

I actually know what I did there, I put a x2 on my sheet by that four points but the x2 was meant for (and applied correctly) to something else. My penmanship is awful and I wrote the x2 between two lines...lol

Also, because of the difference in points and shared winners of players ahead of them, MidwestAP and Wizard have to be the closest to perfect...in fact...both would have to pick very close to perfectly.

MidWestAP, I believe, needs to be 100% perfect to win outright, to tie MWalz9, one of his Picks has to be perfect and the other can only be off by one.

Wizard needs a low scoring game in which the Seahawks win by a large margin.
