I'm going to have my customary $10 bet on Louis Oosthuizen as he is a friend of mine and I support him always!
My logical head says Jason Day is set for a big week.
In 2012 I stood to win $12,000 if Louis won and I got beaten by Bubba and that unbelievable hook he played out of the duff on the 10th hole.....
I love Masters Week. I love the storied past of Augusta National and I love everything about this tournament.
(I don't agree with the rules they make, I just love the tournament)

He doesn't have Tiger to irritate him but he just hasn't been playing well. He will always be shaky over the short putts.
I will look elsewhere :)
Don't sleep on Zach Johnson. He's a former champion, and has 11 career PGA tour wins. He has played 10 tournaments so far this year, made the cut in all of them, won 1 and been in the top 10 four times.
Quote: beachbumbabsI have Rory. Alone, so far, as above.
I'm taking Rory too, I really hope he turns it around this year. I love the Masters!

Now I am worried about my pick. Hope the good father doesn't use his connections to influence the outcome ;-)

And as a long shot I am looking at a small bet on Schwartzel
He was really in his groove this past weekend in Houston.
Quote: ten2winI'll have to get on the Matt Kutchar bandwagon too.

Well, until the 72nd hole!

No way I'd take Walker. I know he's having an amazing year, but he's an Augusta rookie. Of all the courses they play all year, I think experience comes into play more at the Masters than any other. Knowing where to leave the tee shot, understanding the greens, and of course dealing with the pressure.

Funny story about Charl, when he won his Green Jacket, the next year at his official dinner he served something called "monkey gland sauce". It is a traditional South African sauce. Here is a link to the receipe.

Most of the golf writers have never forgiven him for this as they feel that his official dinner should have been something more "regal" for lack of a better word.....
I say to hell with them. He is South African, he wanted South African food, he was the Masters Champ playing one of the greatest final rounds in Masters history. If he wanted to serve cow dung, it would have been ok!!
He has an outside chance but I'm leaning towards Henrik Stenson. He has serious BMT!!!

+100
I have been there numerous times and until you see these greens in person you cannot appreciate how difficult they are. You must leave yourself in the proper spot on them to have a chance.

OK, disregard my Zach prediction, +5 after 12 holes, ouch!
Anyway, Rory is right there and Adam Scott cuts an ominous figure just one stroke off the lead.
Phil kinda missfired but you can never count him out at Augusta.
Bubba is also 1 shot back.........I hope he and Louis don't get tangled up again coming down the stretch on Sunday.....My nerves cannot handle that again :)
Quote: treetopbuddyLouis seems like a real nice guy. I forgot he was the guy that got screwed by Bubba in the playoff a couple years back. Louis has a pure golf swing.
Best in the game baby, best in the game.
Unfortunately he is like every single other South African on tour, bar perhaps Retief in his heyday.....They cannot putt as well as they need to!!!

If there is hole in Louis game, it's his putting. His pre-shot routine with the putter combined with the cross hand grip tells me he struggles with the flat blade.
What will tomorrow bring from the pack?
Nice. I'm rooting for Jordan Spieth since the guy who sits behind me at work at "The Plant" (as our company charmingly calls it) bet $100 on him at 25-1. He's a Texas fan.Quote: rdw4potusMcIlroy played with a marker today because an odd number of pros made the cut. Augusta had a very good member play the round with Rory. And that guy shot a 70 (bogeyed 18, too) and beat Rory by 1. What a rush for that dude!
Hope he isn't a member here LOL
Quote: TomspurLooks like the "field" took down the masters. Bubba won his 2nd green jacket. Couldn't have happened to a nicer hick :)

Hey Mate, when you see Louis (you said you were friends). Tell him to get his teeth fixed.....is he a hick?LOL hope he's not a member here.

How can you fix a "passion gap"? :)
It is perfectly symmetrical and he has better teeth than most humans I have met, it is just a little "breezy" upfront :)

FWIW, all of us kids (me, bros, sis) had that gap and had it fixed right as our permanent teeth came in. It's pretty simple; they cut the little muscle in the center that's pushing them apart and remove it, sew the gum together. The teeth come in perfect and straight. I don't remember it being any big deal, it healed fast. Not sure why it's not a routine dental procedure, unless maybe you have to do it at just the right age?

I would assume it needs to be caught at a certain age but then again, this particular feature is what Louis is known for......his nickname is "Shrek" :)
