How corrupt are the boxing umpires?Quote: NokTang(Yes I know Manila is dangerous, dirty, corrupt, and full of scams, but the women, OMG the women are so very sweet)
+1Quote: BozI am going to the fight in Vegas and still believe Manny will win this one. I believe the fight will be very equal, but that said knowing boxing, Bradley will have to dominate most rounds to get the decision. Fair or not, the judges know how bad the last fight looked for boxing and will have a bias for Manny. Also I believe Manny really knows he needs this to have any chance at the payday against Floyd. As for betting it, the odds are higher than they should be and much of what I am saying is probably factored into the number. I don't see any reason to bet much on the fight and just want to enjoy a good fight.

You mean the way that one of the judges who thought Bradley won the first fight also thought that Mayweather-Alvarez was a draw?
Hoewver, this time, they are having two non-Nevada judges, which is a departure from the usual "two judges from Nevada" policy used for Vegas fights.
The question is, if Pacquiao wins, does this reopen the door for a fight against Mayweather, especially as Mayweather knows just how out-of-touch one of the first fight's judges could be?

A fight that was really bad for boxing was the first Holyfied/Lewis fight. Lewis completely dominated Holdyfield but lost the decision. I watched that fight in the Loser's Lounge at the Riverside in Laughlin. When the decision was announced the most surprised people in the house were the Holyfield bettors.
Ha ha ha ha ...... I remember that place it was a club at night. I took a few different dates/ GFs there, it was easy to sneak in girls under 21. That place got fairly wild fri sat night. It was like a different world from the casino. The casino would be filled with old ladies and a few young rocker skanks mixed in. The kind YOU might think about after half a bottle. Then you would walk in to the LL and it seemed like every hot board chick from the surrounding places who couldn't make it to Vegas, swarmed the LL, they out numbered the guys 2 to 1.Quote: mickeycrimmLoser's Lounge at the Riverside in Laughlin.
Quote: 1arrowheaddrThere still won't be a Mayweather Pacquiao fight. There is a "cold war" between the both of their promotion companies and between HBO and Showtime.
I still believe it is possible because there is just too much money left on the table if it doesn't. Money makes strange bedfellows at times and this one would break all records. Possible $100 Million for Floyd and $50 Million for Manny.

I thought the problem had something to do with drug testing. Or was that just a smokescreen to cover up some political problem?
Quote: ThatDonGuyI thought the problem had something to do with drug testing. Or was that just a smokescreen to cover up some political problem?
Pacquiao is afraid of needles. Mayweather wanted random drug testing. However, as you say that may have just been an excuse to stop the talks. I don't think Mayweather has a promotion company, he does it himself.
I think I found a sportsbook in Manila. Still looking for reasonable airfare. Cock Fights are a big event on Sunday's and one can imagine the excitement at said venues especially if Pacquiao wins. The roar at a cock fight arena can't be matched any place on earth.

Well, as most know, now all, bareback is a way of life in the Philippines. Nothing a good dose of Zithromax doesn't cure so all is well thanks.
Oh come on seriously? I may have had one of my posts (jokes) taken down, in fear it may offend you. I argued that it would have only been offensive towards a bigot. I think I won the argument and could have re posted it. Out of respect, I left it off. I'm not so sure now that was necessary. I still think you authority figures should be held to a higher standard. If not you, then who? This is beyond basic humor especially for a god fearing man, let alone a priest. Sorry but this is strike 2 in my book thank god Jesus/god gives unlimited strikes .Quote: FrGambleNokTang, if you go I would strongly discourage you from doing anything dangerous with cocks, that stuff is sinful my man.
Quote: NokTangAny insight or opinions on this prime time boxing event? I'm thinking about a trip over to Manila, staying at the Hyatt
I think that you should go, you have talked about how much you love the Philippines for years and I think that you would have a great time. Stay at the Hyatt, win or lose a few bucks on the fight, and see a couple of cockfights. How long are you thinking about staying?

About ten days. I search the airfares night and day. Unfortunately they remain out of my reach(something close to $800.usd RT from Bangkok). I'd rather spend the money gambling than fine dining on an airplane. I'll go check AirAsia now connecting in Singapore or KL. KL should be reasonable all things considered tourism wise with the lost jumbo jet. May those victims R.I.P..

Not sure who or what you are on about mate, but a bit of humor is always welcome on my discussions. Anyone who's been in Asia knows full well the inuendeos and we don't expand on them so that is that. I might add that after an afternoon at the cock pit a man is full of gusto and beer and ready for shall we say action.

Tiger Air is showing $275 US round trip, I paid less than $700 US for a business class ticket Bangkok-Manila on Philippine Air during the time period you are posting about.
Yes humor is great, I love a dirty joke or play on words, even ones that involve private body parts. I just don't think its appropriate talk coming from a PRIEST.Quote: NokTangNot sure who or what you are on about mate, but a bit of humor is always welcome on my discussions. So you are kind of like a sheriff as long as he takes off hos badge and gun he can now fight? I didn't realize a man of god could say or do anything as long as some anonymity is cast. I have no problem with the warning at all, Warn a way good father, warn away. We both know the context of your warning was a play on words when using the word cock, I was a bit shocked. Kind of like when you are a kid and you hear you teacher use the F word or smoking or even having sex with students.Quote: FrGambleForgive me for trying to find an easy way to warn him that both his proposed activities are sinful and dangerous. You know Alex besides my handle, I'm not wearing my clerics electronically for all to see. There is advantage to anonymity that might allow me to speak a word of truth to someone without writing it off because it's what the priest would say or how the priest would say it. Rest assured I wouldn't say that in person to him, but I doubt very much that me and him travel in the same circles. Thank God I get to say anything at all to warn him.

Both?
1. Gambling in a third world casino...
2. Attending, enjoying, and gambling on cock fights where the animals are fighting to death....
3. Unprotected sex with complete strangers......
Isn't that three?
They have just opened a sportsbook linked to an internet outfit, all "legal". A very nice setting up on the second floor, nice seating and new TV's all over the place. Construction not done but as with most Cambodians, the writers were all kind and interested in me(they being female, me being a rich barang). Cambodians like to learn, something lost on many cultures and in many places.
So, they have things listed in I guess the UK format:
Manny "1.50"
Bradley "2.65"
This contrast with the American way of saying "200" for example for Manny meaning you win $100.usd for each $200usd wagered.
In the above example, based merely on a hunch, I'm betting Bradley at what we on here call "+165". When I left Bangkok, it was "+180". I don't know if the vig adjusted for a remote location, don't care, no choice at this point.
They also have several prop bets, round by round winner, go the distance, etc..
Good luck. It's dangerous out there.

You mean -200, right?
Quote: AxiomOfChoiceYou mean -200, right?
Yes, I mean in most sportsbooks I think of Manny being -200. which as you know, wager 200 to win 100. Hopefully that will be a moot point as Bradley will win at +165(for my $1000.usd wagered).
I got to meet the sportsbook manager. He's an American from Las Vegas, formerly at Caesars. Nice guy, explained how they were just rolling it all out, mostly soccer wagers now but they will have baseball and the NBA soon as well as be set up for the fall, college and professional football. Big money is wagered here at Baccarat and they assume good action will come on the sports. Sub contracted out for now but who knows in the future. $25,000.usd "limit" now on the soccer.

I'm glad to hear that you made it to Phnom Penh even if you did miss your 'Lifetime opportunity' as you described how a trip to the Philippines to see the Pacquiao fight and attend a major cockfight would be. Have a good trip and good luck with your bet.
