I thought it might be fun for our horseracing friends to play along with me and see how high you could finish.
In the actual tournament, it's a $100 buy in with 120 entries max. First place wins 5K and a $500 tournament entry.
12 races - $2 WP on one horse each race. $42 cap for win $22 cap for place.
Here are the races, I'll post my picks tomorrow night.
GP - 8, 10, 11
TP - 9 - 11
SA - 5, 6, 8, 9
OP - 9, 10

Break a leg fin!!! I can't play along because of this dreaded time difference but I will be cheering you on bud!!!
Quote: FinsRuleI choke when significant prizes are on the line. My hit rates on satellites are great. Then it comes to money time and I finish bottom half always.
Well with an attitude like that you have ost before you began :).
Just do exactly what you do in the satellites. Don't try and re-invent the wheel, just stick to basic horse handicapping and play your angles.

by making it you mean you paid $100? or you sattied in?
There is a cap, so you can only get $42 max on the win, $22 max on the place. For example, if a horse goes off at 50-1 and wins, you'll only get $64 total for that race.
So after the 12 races whoever has the highest total wins 5K. It pays down to 12th place.
The entry costs $100 unless you make it through a satellite. 2/3 of people satellite in typically. There is a cap of 120 entries. Total prize distribution is 11,300 (10k in cash, 1.3k in future contest entries)

Got it….good luck. If you can catch a couple 8-1 horses that would really put you in the mix, I'm guessing.

I need to decide between the 8 and the 5 at the 8th at Santa Anita. Frustrated that Coastline couldn't get up in the Spiral. That's going to cost me hundreds or thousands....
The Spiral was rough as well.
The last 2 races, the horse that was my backup finished 2nd and 1st respectively. I was on today, but got pretty unlucky. This does give me confidence going forward.
Quote: FinsRuleI finished 14th. Top 12 get paid. 13-15 do get entries to next Saturday, so that is a tiny consolation. I picked good enough to win. If my horse doesn't get passed with 2 jumps to the wire I would have finished 3rd and won $1000.

14th against 120 entries is not too bad…….it always boils to the swing race……hit it and your lovin' life.
