This is part 3 of my examination of sports betting cards. The first two parts being parlays and teasers. My latest page examines the pleaser card, also known as a reverse teaser.
As always, I welcome all comments, questions, and corrections.

Here is a gambling joke SOOPOO may like.
A doctor answers his phone and hears the familiar voice of a colleague on the other end of the line.
"We need a fourth for poker," said the friend. "I'll be right over," whispered the doctor. As he was putting on his coat, his wife asked, "Is it serious?" "Oh yes, quite serious," said the doctor gravely. "In fact, there are three doctors there already!"

From experience, I agree that its a poor bet.
Has anyone ever tracked it to see out of 15 games each week (30 teams)........how many ended up within the parameters of winning using the extra 7 each week?(winning on the card.... i dont mean winning outright)
My guess and only a guess based on just playing every weekend, is that around 4 teams hit the number. But that is just a guess.

As I say on my pleaser page, 28.65% cover a 7-point pleaser. So, in 30 teams, 8.6 should.

I believe that if you always cross through the zero on each game in a pleaser bet, you are getting better value, the reason being that NFL games generally don't end in ties so going from +1 to 0 to -1 on a pleaser bet doesn't hurt u as much as going from say 4 to 7.
In other words, "pleasing" a favorite whose giving 7 up to giving 14, hurts me more than pleasing a 4 point dog up to a 3 point favorite (on a 7 point pleaser) because in the first instance all 7 points hurt me while in the second instance 2 of the 7 points I'm giving up are the 2 involved with going from +1 to -1
I'd also like to compare this.. Let's say I have three games, all of which are 7 point spreads. I can do a 3 team pleaser on the 3 dogs, essentially moving each from +7 to a pkem. According to the wizards article, a 3 team 7 point pleaser at William hill pays 26 to 1. However, betting this pleaser is essentially the same exact thing as taking a 3 team moneyline parlay on the 3 dogs. A 7 point dog normally pays around +280 on the moneyline, and so using my parlay calculator I see that a 3 team ml parlay (+280, +280, +280) risking $100... PAYS $5387. LOL
hmm..so I can risk $100 to win $2600 on a pleaser, or I can make THE SAME EXACT BET but call it a parlay and risk $100 to win $5300. Amazing
