actually being a known crack addict can help you lose your standing as a member in most professions.

it wont make you lose your standing in the make believe gambling "profession"..you can be a known crack addict, a known child molestor, a known murderer..and yet you can never lose your membership in the make belive land of the gambling "profession"

That's cool, positions supported by reason are overrated, anyway.

Some players still call themselves "professional gamblers" even though they only had one good/great year and then lost every year since then.

I'm just talking about whether or not one is a professional, I could call myself a doctor, but that wouldn't make me one.

I think about 20 to 1. I'm not sure exactly. It would have been on college football.

That's awesome, I play a lot of moneyline underdog bets myself but 9-1 is my biggest win.

This Sunday the Chiefs will be the first undefeated underdog this late in a season in 23 years. As a 9.5 point underdog I'm assuming they'll be around +480 on the moneyline. Not bad value for a team that hasn't lost yet. Sure it's on the road and sure their schedule to this point has been rather weak, but I feel a 9-0 team at almost 5-1 odds has to offer decent value.

professional/ gambler////OXYMORON

I also believe the term is an oxymoron. It's the accepted name of the trade, but it's not descriptive of what I do. I'm not gambling at all. I'm in risk management. Chance, connsideraton, remuneration. I'm a highly skilled risk taker.

There are a lot of yahoos who call themselves professional gamblers. We have a joke about them:

Question "How can you tell if someone is a professional gambler?"
Answer "He's broke!"

Repeatedly asked about honor amongst his fellow gamblers Doyle Brunson has always said that he has been suckered out of a hell of a lot more money by men in business suits than he has by his fellow professional gamblers.
