For those who enjoy becoming educated whilst slurping their morning coffee: I offer the term SPRUIKING as it relates to gambling in Australia.
Bookie Tom Waterhouse to testify regarding broadcasting of odds in live sports competitions.
The most interesting part was my introduction to the term Spruiking which is best translated into American English as Touting. Ordinances in the downtown business districts of Australia often regulate businesses that hire persons who stand outside their doorway and announce bargains to be had, a situation where touting is illegal but spruiking is legal if the speaker is licensed.

Racing Committee to meet:
Written by AAP Monday, 06 May 2013 01:16
A stewards' inquiry into the poor performance of racehorse More Joyous which sparked a public spat between John Singleton and Gai Waterhouse will resume on Monday.
The horse's high profile owner Singleton, its trainer Waterhouse and her bookmaker son Tom are all due to front the inquiry in Sydney after the highly fancied mare ran second last in the All Aged Stakes at Randwick on April 27.
Singleton publicly sacked Waterhouse after the race, having accused Tom of telling people More Joyous could not win.
After learning of Singleton's comments, Racing NSW stewards called him to a race day inquiry where he declined to name his sources but reiterated his belief there was a problem with More Joyous he should have been told about.
...........
From ABC Australia News.
Two of Australia's leading racing journalists say they believe Gai Waterhouse will be in hot water when the inquiry concludes.
Bart Sinclair says that despite the trainer's staunch defence yesterday against Singleton's accusations, she can expect to be fined in relation to the medical treatment of More Joyous with anti-inflammatories without notification to the Stewards committee.
.............
My only question about all this is WHY is a brothel owner a key figure behind the scenes? Who talked to whom and which hooker reported it? Or what happened?

Eddie Hayson has been involved in many gambling stings over the years. Things like having inside knowledge of injury withdrawals of key players in sporting events before it became public knowledge etc. Plenty of info documented if you're inclined to google him. The fact that he owns a brothel is really secondary to the story as it really has nothing to do with what has transpired.

Exactly, what about the hookers? Horses, drugs and cheating go hand in hand in horse racing. But hookers.
