I know most people on this forum are table game players. We are constantly complaining how table game players are getting screwed over in terms of comps and how it's the slot players who are getting the most "free" stuff.
But are slot players really getting their "fair" share of comps?
Table game players want to get 30% to 40% of their theoretical losses returned back to them in comps. Are slot players really getting this same percentages or are they getting screwed over with less? After all, it is hard for a slot player to know what exactly their theoretical loss should be, while the casino knows exactly, to the penny, how much that slot player is worth to them. A casino could easily give a slot player only 10% or 20% of their theoretical loss, and no one would be the wiser.
How can slot machine players be sure that they are getting their "fair" share of freebies?

I guess it depends on what your definition of "fair" is? You say table game players WANT to get 30-40% back in comps, but realistically, this isn't the case. For example, Caesars properties rarely front the players comps that they haven't earned, and even when they do, they are still "soft comps" like to the buffet or something that doesn't cost them much.
Slot players tend to want different things. Cash back seems to be the number one most important thing, followed by food and room offers. My mother is strictly a slot player, and she gets the most ridiculous offers from her home casino. Her host follows up with her about anything she likes, and she almost always gets enough free buffets to feed the family once a week. However, she rarely takes the cash back, unless it's a bounceback coupon, which she almost always ends up spending more (i.e. she can't JUST cash the coupon).
As you said, the casino knows exactly how much they get from slot players. However, the rating system for slot players tends to be very laid out with little deviation. Play X dollars, earn Y points. Y points equals $Z in cash or comps. It rarely has to do with wins or losses.
