Someone correct me if I'm misinterpreting the numbers, but in Nevada's 2011 Gaming Revenue Report, the region with the lowest slot machine win percent is Sparks, with just 4.62 percent across all slot denominations. See page 39. (The win percent for dollar machines in Sparks was just 3.66 percent.) Comparing Sparks to the rest of the state, is it fair to say that Sparks has the "loosest" slots in Nevada? Is there a jurisdiction in the United States with "looser" slots than Sparks, Nevada?

"Sparks" has only one "big" casino, correct? "Sparks" doe not include Silver Legacy, etc. Correct? SL's slots are tight.

Silver Legacy is in downtown Reno. I believe JA Nugget is considered in Sparks along with a few others.

There are only two casinos with non-restricted licenses (i.e., table games plus a hotel) in Sparks: John Ascuaga's Nugget and Western Village. I am not sure if Alamo Travel Center (which does have table games, but no hotel) is classified as Sparks or Balance of Washoe County. I am sure Frank Martin could answer that. Terrible's Rail City has 21 and Poker and is certainly located in Sparks.
Judging from the very liberal video poker paytables at JA Nugget and Western Village, it would not surprise me that Sparks has very good payback statistics. They also have some of the best blackjack games in the state.
JA's Nugget is probably the largest family-owned casino hotel in Nevada, if not the country. It is still run by the family of John Ascuaga. They have little if any public debt; most of their expansion has been paid for with cash. In addition to the casino, Ascuaga operates three ranches and Nugget Meat Packers, a breaking plant in Reno.

It's no surprise that this is my weekend home...
However, it's under speculation that when John Sr. dies, Steven and Chonne will sell out.

Then why are there newspaper accounts of bankruptcies in the area? With all the games being so good, people should be flocking to them.Quote: teddysJudging from the very liberal video poker paytables at JA Nugget and Western Village, it would not surprise me that Sparks has very good payback statistics. The official groupings can always have weird aspects to them. That is one reason why North Las Vegas is so strange: if one casino sneezes, the stats change markedly. You have to look behind the category to see the number and type of licensees involved.

2011? Maybe, But a non sicentific visual assessment tells me things may be different now.
Of the 2 casinos,(wester villiage...small and JA NUGGET (large)...there has been changes over the last 2 years in one of them.
The nugget has had a biker homicide in the casino a year ago that could not have helped business. Before that they emptied out their race book...and the seating area is just vacant.
The poker room where I used to play, is hard to find a no limit game anymore due to lack of interest.
They have emptied out their casino floor of a certain percentage of slot machines....more space to walk,,,but it is noticiable that there are definaely less machines on the floor.
I am in reno. sparks 50 times a year andused to go to JA Nugget every week 2000-2010,,,,,but its turned into a more depressing place to look at.
So I am not sure if they have to tighten up the machines in 2013?.....I would not assume 2011 figuers apply to 2013
