I haven't seen it since. Is it still around?
Reminds me slightly of the Hollywood Squares slot, where the player would play Tic-Tac-Toe to increase their bonus. It seemed like a player could not be forced to win, though it could be made easier.
1) Can a slot machine legally have a skill-based bonus?
2) Can a player be forced to WIN (not tie) a game of Tic-Tac-Toe?
3) Anyone seen (or not seen) the Trivial Pursuit slot anywhere?
1 - Some jurisdictions (North Carolina comes to mind), require the slots to have an element of skill. All slot machines there (not just poker) are double-spin. I.E. You spin, then can hold any (or none or all) of the wheels, and spin the others a second time. Whether this is actual skill or some pseudo façade of skill, I'm not sure.Quote: Dween1) Can a slot machine legally have a skill-based bonus?

2 - I suppose the computer can play crappy so that any remaining space would win for the player.
3 - I've not seen it. I don't normally play slots, but that sounds intriguing.

No longer true in NC. The law must have changed a few years ago , maybe when they got powerball. Harrah's has regular slot machines now, but a few of the old "Lock and Roll" remain. Not only did you get a second spin, but also the number of every symbol on each reel was available, such as 15 cherries, 18 single bars etc. Each reel had a different number of symbols and a different distribution.
Quote: s2dbakerI only saw this slot machine once at the Tropicana in Atlantic City but I loved the bonus feature. The Trivial Pursuit slot machine worked like a normal slot machine.
Come on pass the dice! Maygay made a classic fruit machine when they brought us this Trivial Pursuit game. Based on the board game (complete with cheeses!) makes this a very entertaining game. Reach the gold pot for Big Money suprises. Avoid getting the wrong answer! Look out for the red boards for INVINCIBLITY! This is a well played machine, let us see if you have got what it takes to win the SUPER JACKPOT.

I don't remember of it was three reels or more but it wasn't unusual. The bonus feature was unusual! You would get a certain amount of bonus winnings and then if you answered a multiple choice trivia question correctly on the first try, it tripled the prize. If you got it right on the second try, you got double. I may not be remembering it exactly but that's not the point. The point is that it turned the bonus into a skill based game rather than a luck-of-the-RNG game.

I was at the Tropicana this morning and thought of your question. I asked a couple of slot supervisors and they remembered Trivial Pursuit, but said it's been gone for several years. I'm not a slot player but my wife used to play it at the Tropicana and she's pretty sure no other casino in AC had it.
