In essence after trespassing 7 different times and winning slot jackpots three of those times, the casino finally refused to pay the jackpot of said patron
Only reason they paid the previous three times is that's the law of Nevada (according to testimony from the trial reported in the article).
Refusing to pay this fourth jackpot while trespassed, the player brought a dispute.
He won!!! Casinos don't get to break the law just because they feel injured.!!!!
It should be noted the decision is final so it cannot even be raised to the gaming commission, that's how absolutely wrong the casino was in their position.
The player was trespassed BTW for not paying for an alcoholic drink.
The feelings of the casino apparently were that for the cost of that drink, they now had the right to steal the man's $2,500+ jackpot.
I really don't understand why casinos feel they have a license to steal. They just don't get it.
I'll just add: I've been told multiple times by Gaming Control in more than one jurisdiction that they are not a collection agency and they cannot and will not force the casino to pay. Supposedly, they can give them fines, but not one time have they ever suggested they would do so if there was a refusal to pay. Usually, the casinos take the advice of Gaming Control. I don't think I've ever run into a situation myself where gaming instructed them to pay, and they didn't. 95% of gaming decisions have been fair in my cases.Quote: darkozI think this discussion has occurred elsewhere so this article should clear things up. You are correct, in Nevada the Gaming Agents can not force the casino to pay. they make suggestions, and sometimes very strong suggestions. The smart people realize that not following the really strong suggestions will probably have severe consequences for the casino.
