Can you gain the edge on a slot?

Specifically one called The Vault or one of the few offering the diamond heist feature or something similar. The strategy for this game would be to wait around like a vulture and only play when someone else activates the diamond heist feature. I feel like you should have the advantage during this but I'm not a slot tech so idk. It also seems too good to be true and that more people would be doing it if that were the case. I played 2 heists on max bet ($5) and ended up winning $70 the first time and $230 the second. Am I on to something here or am I being led by the misconception of good luck?

Once activated, the entire series of machines (3 machines are linked at my casino) get the bonus round for the next 3 minutes. You can then spin a special symbol that will let you "steal" diamonds with realistic prizes ranging from $20-500 (on $5 per spin). You and any other players are competing for the same prizes which is why you can steal the diamonds

How this game works is during the diamond heist feature, the reels spin faster than they do in the base game mode.

Faster reel spins = more coin in = more money exposed to the house edge = more money to pay out the bonuses in the diamond heist feature.

I could be wrong, but that is my understanding about how the game works.

yeah just went back and quickly lost the $300 I won. Guess I'm just another victim of casino psychology ;-;. Also found out the feature activates periodically with no one playing pretty much confirming there's still a house edge. You made some good points too
