Is the same method applicable to Buffalo Ascension?Quote: WizardQuote: 100xOddsHow did you arrive at 3500 combos as +EV?

I calculate the average reel will be 4.93 long.
You might ask where I got that figure and why it isn't the average of 3 and 8. It's because the longer a reel is, the more likely it is to get more horseshoes and thus move up faster. In other words, the reel expansion accelerates as it goes.
Take that to the fifth power and you have 2,903 average combinations.
I figure the total RTP is 90%, of which 50% comes from line pays. We need to get that line pay RTP to 60% to break even. 2,903 * 1.2 = 3,483. I then rounded up to 3,500.

Why is Mike assuming a 90% RTP?Quote: 100xOddsIs the same method applicable to Buffalo Ascension?Quote: WizardQuote: 100xOddsHow did you arrive at 3500 combos as +EV?

Whenever you feel like losing your money.

I didn't stick around to find out. Not sure if they swapped out the other 2 on the floor, either.
When they first installed High Roller at another casino I was able to quickly profited, whithin minutes, $1000 off a $20, starting from 80c denom on up. The arrows were shooting the reels up faster than I have ever seen before that I thought it was a programming error. I couldn't believe it. I wasn't leaving and thought I better take advantage of this while the getting is good by increasing to the next denom which was max bet. Boy was I wrong lol. The frequency of the arrows was tremendously slower on the $8 bet that I ended up losing the entire profit lol
I found eight high at $1.60 and 10 blue at $4.
Then I got distracted by something.
Then Played the 10blue for a decent win.
Then I left.
15min later, realized what I did and went back. Someone already hit the $1.60.
Don't know what's worse:
- forgetting the 8 high
- dreaming about hex

I am concerned by the note in the Rules screen of Buffalo Ascension that says the reel strips change with reel height. In theory, those changes could make sure the game never goes positive; the higher reels would just have worse symbols on average.

Yeah, things like more coins when the columns are at minimum height = more bonuses when non-AP's are playing. Less coins at full height = less bonuses when AP's are playing. Easy way for game manufacturers to lessen the take from AP's.
One of the biggest 'nerfs' I experienced was the wheel of fortune game with the 2 dollar signs up top. The first few weeks that game gave tons of bonuses while you were chasing wild columns. It paid like crazy. Then the machines were turned off for a few days and when they came back on bonus frequency was way down. Like way way way way way down.

I believe you. A guy said he saw a player KEEP winning BIG EVERY SINGLE SPIN. The other guy said,"This machine is malfunctioning in the good way. I'm going to take my money before the Casino realizes that this machine is paying EXTREMELY WELL! The other guy took his money and left. Sure enough, about five minutes after the other guy left, slot Technicians,"fixed," the machine and it started getting EXTREMELY cold. The other guy was smart to leave when he did and not get greedy. 😀💡
