Quote: NathanMy local casino said they were prosecuting someone who stole a TITO worth .35. That's not even enough to buy a mini bag of chips! I thought that was absurd.
Florida?
That's possible. Petit Theft in the Second Degree does not appear to have a minimal property value attached to it:

One difference between Florida (where this applies to anything) and Colorado (where it only applies to casinos) is that, "Voluntary Abandonment," can be used as a defense in Florida. That's just to say that the person accused could say that the slot ticket was deliberately left behind which, in that case, it probably was.
Link to this story or is this just a rumor?
Basically as close to trolling as you can get without trolling - it’s jusy absurd
Nathan claims that "My local casino said they were prosecuting someone ..."
We've all heard the expression "If these walls could speak;" Nathan claims that is exactly what happened: the casino itself told her about it.
An employee didn't claim it, the casino itself did.
Nathan: how did the casino impart this info to you, via a message on a slot screen?
If so, how about a screen shot?
1.) The subject matter of the thread is literally this exact thing happening in Colorado.
2.) Florida law makes the story theoretically possible.
3.) Even if not #2, how would one go about disproving that one person told another person something in a live venue? I mean, this isn't a court of law, so I can't really toss out trolling bans for hearsay.
4.) I should also remind WizardofNothing, as well as any parties who feel they may be adversely impacted by this decision, what the, "Block," button is and its purpose.
And miss out on all the exciting hobo bag talk?Quote: Mission146

Edit:
Oops, sorry, I mistyped hobo, stupid M and B.
Such unclaimed winnings/found money funds appear to be higher than I would have imagined.

Oh, my bad. It was casino employees saying this to each other.

I wonder if that includes drawings with a cash prize(s), but only a specific amount of time to claim the prize.
I could see it, though. A casino near me has a donation drop bin for small tickets, change...whatever you want to put in there, really. Anyway, anytime I am vulturing a machine and there is change on it, I cash it out and carry it very clearly in front of me to the bin, after the play is over. I would say that I have deposited an average of over a dollar a day (when I go) in the bin, and that's just by way of checking a dozen (or so) machines regularly.
I don't go every day, but if I did, you figure that's around $400 that goes into the bin right there.
Quote: GandlerDo people who wander the casinos just to play forgotten credits or dropped tickets really count as "Slot 'Customers' "
Not really, but in my store, we still call people who walk in and BUY NOTHING but still STEAL THINGS or try to customers. It's really bizarre. We should be only calling them THIEVES.
I live in Colorado and have been to Cripple Creek three times (it's a long drive) basically just to play blackjack (or double up blackjack when the table is open). But after an hour or so, I get tired of that and want to do something else. The video poker is not great, so I don't play much of that. Then I'll try a few bucks in slot machines.
After reading this, I will NEVER step foot into a Colorado casino again (btw the Indian casinos are just awful, so it doesn't matter if this stupid law doesn't apply to them).
I will also be writing my legislators and letting them know that their stupid law is draconian and will result in 100% of my casino business going to Nevada.
A criminal record with fines and 24 hours of forced labor for playing off abandoned slot credits? Seriously? Go F yourself Colorado.

I agree, but I guess that is the politically correct term lol.
