There is a new feature in my local casino that has suddenly appeared and they put in several machines. I don't know how long it's been out but they are new to me. I am intrigued. I cannot post a photo because my account is still too new, but a brief description is that they are a typical five reel slot with a feature that is like those old machines that used to push coins until they drop. Do you remember those? The levers were constantly moving, I think, and you'd put a coin in it and see if any would be pushed over the edge so you could collect them.
In this Konami machine, the feature is random, and it spins a setup of drop slots where there is either a label of "jackpot", "secondary prize", or a blank. Then there are four jackpots, mini, major, etc., and four green clovers, three blue diamonds, two gold bears, and one red crown, mixed in amongst the virtual coins. And you hope the red crown gets pushed into a jackpot drop slot.
It's hard for me to explain it so you really need to see it to fully appreciate it. Like I said, I am intrigued. I'm inclined to think there is strategy, as in advantage play strategy, but I may be wrong. The machine is not stupid. It has a canny way of avoiding putting the good drop slots where the crown or bears are.
Any thoughts you'd like to share?

Gotta link? I couldn't find anything with search.
So what d'ya think? Thumbs up or down? I've never seen the damn things until this month. I'm not a slot player, but they caught my attention. Y'gotta hand it to Konami, they must have a pretty good share of the market, at least here in California anyway.

Nothing really. Thanks anyway, I'll figure it out myself. It's a novel concept, though, credit to whoever thought it up at Konami. The machines get a lot of play.

Even if the crown is next to drop I still wouldn't consider this an advantage play because you have no control over whether the slot it falls into is a jackpot or bonus credits. These have been around locally for 2-3 years now.

Depends on if the locations of the jackpot slots are randomly given. If they would be, then I would think you would want to play if the crown would likely be the next to fall because a few of the videos I watched are covering about half the slots with "jackpot" symbols.

They're not. As little as I have played with these so far I quickly discovered that the machine ain't stupid. Every slot could be a jackpot slot EXCEPT the one where the crown is hanging on the edge. lol
Surprisingly, about the third time I played this somehow I got a crown. But it had to be pushed sideways and diagonally and somehow it ended up in a jackpot slot. I thought, "Oh, that was easy". Yeah, right.
So far, and I'm down a few hundred, probably played it five or six times, but I thought maybe if I looked for a machine where the green and blue rewards were unusually high, and then looked at the screen and the symbols were reasonably spread out, at least when I hit those they would be higher than normal, and then maybe once in awhile luck would hit me in the ass and give me a bear or crown by accident. Of course, I guess the casino can still set the main reel game as loose or tight as they want. But for sure, each time I played I set the "+50" button to give me a better chance, whatever chance that might be. And I bet minimum on the base wager.
I wouldn't even do this sh*t if the casino had some decent video poker. Tight ass slot manager, Indian casino with no competition. On weekends the joint is packed.

I forget the exact terminology but on the rule screen it says something along the lines of 'just because a jp symbol(crown or bear) is near the edge does not mean it's more likely to hit'. Essentially, just go through the rule screen for the clearest answer.
Edit: At first I figured the same thing, jp symbol near the edge going to win big! Haha, it got me for a few bucks.

What's the regulation behind these ? Do they have to do a faithful reproduction of the real version ? Eg:
Or do they allow the same sort of nonsense that the reel portion of the slots get through being able to do weighted stops ?

Assume the worst, believe no one, and make your move only when you are certain that you are unbeatable or have, at worst, exceptionally good odds in your favor.
