just take a look at the following link (url removed by mod) it's a european company that supplies all major casino's in the world with software. just an example here below taken from there website, take a look at there site and tell me that slotmachines are "random" what a joke.

In the UK the lower division machines don't have to be random and can be compensating; however most the ones in the casinos are in a higher category. There are two common methods for Jackpot-link machines - the most common is triggered randomly and I don't know how the "pay-by" ones work.
The OP suggests there is a Jackpot Controller. Firstly the machines are protected (and testing has to prove this) against outside influences (like magnetic fields, radio interference etc.) and there are strict protocols to allow engineers to update the software.
