Harrahs poker room is already closed in Tunica. Played 3/6 stud 8 there earlier this month. They were just playing it because it was better for the promos they were giving away. Didn't win a promo drawing, but had fun playing Stud8 for once.

I think the hollywood poker room is going to be closing there too. Then don't be shocked if the rake goes to $5.

Overall poker is definitely going downhill.

I didn't realize Harrah's had already closed their room. I don't hardly see how Hollywood even stays open. It wouldn't surprise me for their poker room to close. There where just a handful of players there the last couple times I went through.

Horseshoe just spent a considerable amount of money upgrading their poker room. It's almost always packed. Never played their but I'm thinking about playing one of the tournements their the next time through.

Thread bump.

As you may know, I had asked Mike to make the original post into an article. Although he liked the idea, he never did it.

I recently sent a message to Zuga asking him to turn it into an article. So this may be your last chance to make comments, that will cause edits in the article before it actually becomes one.

Just a little info on the unusual FL poker scene in St Pete Florida.
The busy poker room at Derby lane most popular game is cash 1 - 1 no limit holdem.
1 buck small blind, 1 buck big blind.
rake is 10% up to max 5 dollars.
The rake for the promotions is not 1 but 2 bucks. 2 bucks on a 1- 1 game.
Flip side, 500 dollars for high hand every 30 min.
See straddle more because the thinking is to get 10 in the pot quickly to qualify for high hand.

In position is when you have the button in front of you or behind you and you are the last couple of players to act before the blinds decide what to do, for example, say you are at a 10 seat table, and the button was on seat 6, seats 5 and 6 would be considered in position since 6 of the other 8 seats must act before them. People straddle to gain the option of checking as a pseudo big blind. Example, you are at a $1,$2 NL Hold'em game, the first player to act puts out $4 before the cards are dealt, so they have the option to act last pre-flop.

Better late than never. I just made it into an article. Sorry it took so long.

I think part of the demise is that in most poker rooms a few players have the ear of management. And they decide tournament structures and the games played in tournaments. Never been asked once what games I would like to see spread or on a tournament rotation.

No problem - although I'm still looking for an article index...

I noticed there is one photo (of a Bravo wait list) which says to click for a larger version. That link is broken.

Also, you have all of my minor headings as headings, but my two major headings are mere bold lines. These major headings are:

Miscellaneous Novice Mistakes and Bad Habits

Advanced Concepts

Will do. Thanks.

Mike -

Upon further examination, you missed a couple headings.

Poker Rooms differ from the casino's main floor
This should be a minor heading.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
This is a heading. It should be a major heading.

Robert's Rules
This should be a minor heading.

Thanks

Me no play poker.

Me know some poker rooms are grinders playing for peanuts while awaiting some Lalapoloosa to strike. Lalapolossa is generic term for weird card combination with unusual payout that casino uses to fill room with "poker players' but often only get 'Lalapolossa Waiters', not real players.

Me know Venetian only place in town known for luxury and spreading any game you want AND a good steady supply of visiting Fish.

Me know Venetian only place in town willing to spread Chinese Poker, but me not know why so few poker players want to play Chinese Poker. Chinese Poker 'sposed to be highly volatile, ain't that good for the players?

Me know some rooms are grinders grinding each other, not waiting for Lalapoloosa, just waiting for teensy weensy pots to mount up by days end. (Day is often 14 hours).
