Top 10 poker movies. http://bit.ly/2obfc2V
There are quite a few movies out there where poker plays an important role in the overall plot. Obviously, you should not expect to see the mathematical side or icmizer-like calculations of the game to be displayed, but you can surely have a great time while watching these movies.
While some of the names on this list of top poker movies are somewhat older, don't let that fool you. If you love poker, you’ll probably enjoy seeing every single one of these flicks — if you haven’t already. http://bit.ly/2obfc2V

1. Rounders.
There is a reason that you’ll find Rounders at the top of pretty much every poker movies list out there. It is probably one of the best, if not the best film in this category. Released in 1998 and starring Matt Damon, Ed Norton and John Malkovich, Rounders tells the tale of the young gun Mike looking to take on the poker world. The quest takes him through the dangerous world of underground high stakes games hosted by Teddy KGB (Malkovich) and various other exploits as he’s trying to build the bankroll and move to Las Vegas.
The good news is that Brian Koppleman, a co-writer of the film, hinted recently on Twitter in response to Negreanu that a Rounders 2 may very well be in the works.
Or did they all go to Hedge Funds and become Quants living in New Jersey to be close to the NYSE servers?
Quote: MrCasinoGames2. High Roller: The Stu Ungar Story.
Amen to that one! I find most people, even in gambling circles, have never heard of it. It belongs in a high position of any gambling movie, poker or not.

Quote: FleaStiffI think the national Poker Craze ended and Rounders 2 would be about Grinders who had ground for 20 years and were worn out doing it but had no other career options.

Rounders 2 would take place 20 years later, and they all have crappy office jobs but play online poker after work until 3 in the morning....haha
Seriously, though, I'd like to see a movie about that whole Phil Ivey Baccarat scandal. THAT would be entertaining.
Quote: FleaStiffI just wikipedia'd him. Sad story. Impressive skills, however.
Died at The Oasis Motel where David Strickland also died.
Sadly there is discussion of tearing this historic Vegas property down.
Stu Unger’s story is number one on this list no questions asked imo. Absolutely amazing movie!
Quote: mcallister3200Man you guys have got me into a rabbit hole of reading Ungar stories and watching clips. Simultaneously a world class gin rummy, backgammon, poker and blackjack player when the drugs weren’t in charge. OD’d in his hotel room on third day of 1990 WSOP but still made the final table posting blinds without being there due to the lead he had. Crazy stories, drug addiction can be brutal.
Definitely read his biography. If I remember correctly he was 15 and beating world class Gin players.
and by 21 he was out drinking world-class gin drinkers😁Quote: DRichDefinitely read his biography. If I remember correctly he was 15 and beating world class Gin players.
