we have torunaments in reno a couple times a year, where the casinos bring in a big name to advertise the torunament. It is usually in conjunction with the WPT.
Its not televised...and the buy in is around 1500-2k.
In order to promote it....do they usually give the "name player" that they use in advertising, a comped seat? And is that comped seat actually paid for by the casino or WPT....or do they just let them play for free....costing them nothing....but costing the players money in the prize pool?
Is there nevada gaming rules that dictate that free seating, comped seating, involve actual placement of money into the prize pool by someone?
Sometimes there are multiple big names that fly in for the tournament. It brings attention and legitimacy to that particular casino's tournament.
I know for big TV tournamnets when the poker sites were legal they would pay for the players they have represent them at the tables with hats and gear with logos....which is fine...since that money went into the prize pool.
I was just wondering if there is strict regulations as to the accounting in a tournament.
or if casinos can "give away" seats to vips at no cost to the casino...and kind of play fast and loose with entries/buy-ins
