Quote: BozFlamingo has 2 guys who spend 60-80 a week in their room and make a decent living off tourists. Talk to one on every visit and he makes it sound so easy, and even he cant understand why other locals leave the room alone. Hope I didnt out him.
Not enough people play poker here to probably make a difference on "outing him". My guess is that many locals/grinders stay away from CET poker rooms like Flamingo because the rake is $5 max + $1 JP drop. Also the more skillful players will also stay away because it's usually only $1/$2 for NL. But if the players are weak enough, it's worth playing in the higher rake room, imo.

It's usually hard to tell if a game with a high rake is beatable, b/c the rake is obviously eating up a lot of money, but you may not be able to find such weak players at higher stakes....
I mean some of these guys at 1/2 are so bad it's ridiculous. But given just a couple of sharks, and a high rake, it may turn out that your table with horrible players is still -EV. And to be completely honest, there's no real sample you can use to figure it out, b/c the players constantly change, so the best you can do is try to use the best table selection possible. Try to find such weak players that the game is boring, and once they bust out stop playing. At least, that's how I'd approach I really fishy high rake game.

With a high rake and multiple winning players at a table, your win rate is either really low or non existent; at least that's what I'd think.
Obviously at high limits the extra 1 or 2 bucks isn't as big of a difference as say, 1/2, 2/4 or 3/6.

It really depends on the rest of the table. If you're the 3rd best player and the others are donating pretty heavily, you could still win a reasonable amount.
Keep in mind, ZCore, we were discussing $1/$2 NL, so an extra dollar of rake per hand is somewhat significant at that level. It's definitely less of an issue at $2/$5+. I haven't played enough NLHE in Vegas to really know if games at Ballys/Flamingo/PH are so much weaker that it's worth playing over instead of the rest of the rooms in town that are $4 max.
Let's narrow: On the strip, not too rowdy, and relatively comfortable.
