Hot off the heels of the Dragon7 bet thread, DEQ systems releases a new player-side bet for EZ Baccarat, called "Panda8"

Since there's a bet for a three-card Banker 7, there was some interest in creating an equivelant bet for the player's side. This now exists.

Just released by DEQ for EZ Baccarat, the Panda bet is a bet that the player will get a three-card 8, to pay 25:1

I think I'm going to take this one on myself! Time for some Panda hunting.

My hunch is that it won't be as vulnerable. The 8 is playing dual roles here. It is good if the deck is depleted in 8s because that will lead to more situations when the player draws a third card. But, it is also good to have an 8 in the deck, because T-T-8 will be the most common 8. Also, the house edge is considerably higher than the Dragon, there is just too much room to make up.

Okay, but what about the other Dragon bet? Have you done a similar study on the Dragon Bonus versions?

If you mean the Shuffle Master wager, I've not looked at it.

Neither have I. My hunch is that it is not very worthwhile to count.
