I have played ultimate texas holdem a number of times now. I have used the proper strategy given by the Wiz and discount gambling. I have gotten my head handed to me every time. Has any one found this to be a profitable game? I have never even been up enough to even consider walking away. I only make the trips bet where the pay table gives a low house edge. I am ready to write this one off and stick to Black Jack and Pai Gow poker as far as card games go.

I would chalk up the luck to bad streaks. I've had the exact opposite happen to me... the dealer couldn't pull a hand higher than me for about an hour. I was up about 200 just betting $5 as the base bet.

Just played it ... lost $287.50 flat betting $5 antes. You get more bad sessions than good (obviously). Final dagger was me flopping trips and dealer showing a straight. The swings can be brutal. Have a least a couple thou.

It is a high variance game, so, if you're going to play it, you need to be prepared for the swings.

In the last 3 months I have had an actual profit of over $22,000. This includes a loss or two of about $3,000 but most profitable sessions.

With all the talk of the poor play, bad swings, etc, UTH looks like a winner even at a $2+$2 minimum. Still, bring $400 with ya.
Some people need to reimagine their thinking.

If you played about ~2.5 hours, this is barely over a standard deviation in the game. The standard deviation for the game is 49.3 antes per 100 hands. This game has sick swings, and is definitely a key to its success, imo.
