Still is big, at least in California, in no small part because (a) pretty much any organization can run a game - for example, the Blue Devils drum corps, which won Yet Still Even Another world championship last week, runs regular games in three cities - and (b) it's pretty much the only game in town if you're not interested in poker or horse racing, as the casinos are few and far between around here, at least in the north.

There's even a pennysaver-style newspaper, the Bingo Bugle (originally it was free, but the last time I saw a print version, they were 5c each), that is pretty much 100% advertising for games in the area.

Some people are really into it. We were discussing at work the other day some serious players do not even mark cards, they can remember what is covered Rain Man style.

I worked a fundraiser once or twice for a local group back in WNY. You want to talk about heavy smokers! The smoking room would drive even a Big Mo exec out.

Like poker, it is impossible for the house to lose. Unlike poker you can learn to play in about a minute.

Be careful if you go play. The serious players are....SERIOUS.

I don't get it... such a boring game. And the more people that play, the worse it gets.

When I lived in Lauderdale in the early 800s, the Indian Bingo Halls( that's what they were called) had high stakes bingo that drew huge crowds.

It is the most frustrating form of gambling. Get close to winning...someone else wins...start over.

Rinse and repeat

Bingo is bigger than it ever has been.
I somehow was recommended bingo live streams on Youtube. The game is not what it was back in the olden days of whenever it started.
Players are dropping hundreds of dollars on event tickets, all players, and strips. Multiple games are running at the same time. While you try to get a line of three in each of the five squares on "Biker Betty", you are also trying to get your five numbers on Hog Paradise and hoping your quinella comes in.
