Please check out my latest game analysis -- Pin Ball (note the two words). This was about the easiest game I ever analyzed.

The question for the poll is would you play this game?

Straight forward and simple indeed. I like it though, and not just for the single zero =P. Reminds me of the Price Is Right game PLINKO. If PLINKO was any indication, the ball could get hung up for a second or two here or there when teetering on falling left or right, which could add for some 'random' excitement.
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Are you assuming that the single number bets all come up evenly? I believe in true pachinko style games the results usually resemble a bell curve with the central numbers coming up most often.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Drich is right, a real device would resemble a bell curve. The pin layout may introduce a bias though.

Thank God internet casinos aren't regulated and can just take your money as they please. If the "simulation of a real thing (i.e. deck of cards, here: pin board) must have the same odds as the real thing" that applies in Vegas were to apply here, we'd have another scandal on our hands. Let's scrap the analysis, the casino will just keep the percentage they feel is appropriate. (Unless it states in the fine-print that the appearance of each number is equally likely. And the ball thing is just for show. Can you clarify, Wizard?)

I was gonna bring up the bell curve issue too.

Since the payouts are not weighted, I would either bet the middle numbers, or assume the casino is cheating and not bet at all.

Therefore, I voted "other."

Look up quincunx. One meaning is the geometric pattern of five dots, like on a die or domino. Another is a device with a set of balls and a pin-laden board, much like the one shown. That quincunx is specifically for demonstrating random distributions and other statistical phenomena. Here is a link to the Wikipedia article about that.

Yes. Kind of like a class 2 slot machine, I assume the outcome it determined first and the ball part is just for show.

,

No intent to derail, but I have never seen that word before, and it's one of the few times I was sure a glanced-at new word was obscenely scatological. (Reading fast; was immediately sure I was wrong when I saw the post author), just one of those mental things.

Just wondered if anyone else did a similar double-take.

As to the game, I love pachinko and pinball, but only in real life. No interest in electronic representations.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

Is it correct to say that "Gravity" leads the ball through the pins?

There appears to be a physics algorithm in use, but is it accurate to call it "Gravity" (especially if it operates like a Class II machine)

I'm not sure what your point is, since that article says that the results should resemble a bell curve.

Although that wouldn't be cheating, anyone who is expecting a bell curve is going to feel cheated.

I meant a virtual representation of gravity.

Ugh, if this game has all the slots worth the same odds, it hurts my head, and annoys me.

My point was that you were absolutely correct, that in a real machine of this design you would tend to get a bell curve. I was just providing a reference to the quincunx that was specifically built for that purpose. It gives binomial/normal distribution of the results, not uniform distribution as is apparently the assumption for this pseudo-simulation.

I did, but over at the other thread, https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/questions-and-answers/math/21663-birthday-problem/ .

Yes, I suspect she is also doing that. In addition to giving them trouble about her birthday.

Very minor change of expression in personality, whatever it is. Another thing about an ongoing forum. But, must reserve some distance to properly spot and report on such.
