Well it's a good thing I didn't try to martingale this. So apparently there is the advertised RTP% on the game and then there is an internal actual RTP that is adjustable. I've kind of thought this was the case. I have previously posted that awhile ago I compiled very non-scientific results of my play at different online sites. What I noticed was my returns at a certain group of sites (MGM, Caesars, etc) was relatively consistent across the board. Some were right on target and others were consistently 2-3x the house edge across all of their sites. This was despite playing the exact same 1 or 2 games at every site. Again not a scientific sample size but all the sites had at least $500k coin in, so that gives a decent feeling.

I can only think of one way to ensure the public that games are performing the way they should. In addition to the advertised theoretical RTP%, the actual games coin in and out should be displayed. Of course the operators won't want this because it shows how much people have lost. But it would be interesting to see how the same game has performed across different sites.

$500K coin in could be a large sample or a small sample depending on how big your average bet was.

I play more at DraftKings than any other site. I gave them $13M in action last year. My lifetime results are very good despite the fact that I had a very bad day yesterday and lost $38K. I get enough promotional cash to make the DK slot games slightly +EV assuming the stated RTPs are accurate. If the house edge was 2-3x what is implied by the the stated RTPs, then I would be losing a half million a year at DK. (Spoiler alert: I am not.) It is always possible I am being cheated at DK, but I don't lose any sleep worrying over it because my results have been quite positive over the years.

I am having the best year of my career. If I am being cheated, then the online casinos are really bad at cheating.

I have similar play at DK although not lately as I'm guessing I'm no-promo'd there. If there is an internal RTP setting I think DK actually sets theirs the highest. My results have been the best there. There is another group of sister sites that has been consistently bad across the board over a couple of million coin in. Just my personal experience leads me to believe that there's a possibility that the same game on different sites could be set to a different internal RTP% even though the game itself says the same info. Overall my online results have probably been about what they should be.

It is industry practice for the help screen to be automatically updated with the proper version number. I would expect that the RTP would also be updated to be sure it represents the actual RTP of the specific software build.

I have seen the selection screens on IGT machines that offer the slot tech a range of RTPs to choose from. It would make no sense to offer a 0% RTP. This would be illegal in almost ever major jurisdiction and doesn't lead to a fantastic customer experience. This DK scandal had to be some faulty software that got out into the wild by mistake. The article does not say whether the game gave winning combinations and did not pay out not whether the game was incapable of producing winning combinations on the screen. Either scenario looks really bad for White Hat.
