i was playing my usual online baccarat when i notice they added a new provider for Live Dealer. I noticed on each hand, the dealer would draw out total of six card- two on player and banker each and two would remain on the side. If neither player or banker needs to draw for a third card, the cards on the side would act as first card for player and banker on the new hand. My question is - does this affect the house edge?

no, but i wonder why would they do that? why don't they just keep the cards in the shoe?

Could it be some kind of "anti-cheating" defense of some sort? I have no idea what that would prevent, just brainstorming, here.... Or maybe it's some kind of superstition thing geared towards Asian players?

Only other reason I could maybe think of is to increase hands per hour, but that doesn't seem likely. Seems like Asians would not be in favor of this, since that's not how it's dealt in brick & mortar casinos, i.e.: superstition.

That's what I initially thought, too, but it doesn't make sense... it still takes the exact same amount of time overall to pull the cards out of the shoe whether you do it before the draw or after. Maybe it's some weird baccarat variant where the cards have to be drawn that way for some side bet or something??

Was every dealer performing the deal that way or just one?
