I just wrote a new page on Visionary iGaming, which is a company that provides live dealer gaming to various Internet casinos. This is the first review of a live dealer operation I've ever done, but more to follow.

Please preview the article. As usual, I welcome all comments, suggestions, questions, and especially corrections.

The question for the poll is do you prefer live dealers or fully electronic games when playing online?

I prefer a live dealer in an "in person" game, and fully electronic (assuming this includes "virtual dealers") online.

There's no channel 1 because when TV channels were first allocated in the USA, there was a Channel 1, but for some reason, there was a reallocation of frequencies that overlapped Channel 1, so it was moved to the other end of the channel range, and, rather than make everybody with 2-12 change channel numbers, they just called the new channel 13. I suppose they could have called it Channel 1...

Yes. Sometimes another dealer will sit at the end of the table and shuffle the next shoe. Other times the action stops as the dealer shuffles herself. Much like an automatic shuffler in Vegas, they alternate between two shoes.

In this picture you can see another dealer shuffling the alternate shoe.

There's a few discrepancies with the house edge for the version of Baccarat that pays 1 to 2 on a Bank win with a total of 6. On the WOO page for the commission free U.K version, where Bank bets pay 1 to 2 on a Bank winner with a total of 6, it has a house edge of 1.46% for Bank, so a worse bet than Player. The WOO page for EZ Baccarat has the rules of Bank winning with a 3 card total of 7 is a push, with a house edge of 1.02%.

D'oh! You're right. I got confused with my versions of commission-free baccarat there for a second. Stupid mistake. I owe you 20 push-ups.

The video is worth watching for getting a general idea of what it is like to play.

Wow, is that slow. My reaction surprised me as I am already of the opinion internet play is too fast, that is, I am capable of accepting slower as more sane for -EV play, but this is excruciating.

They really need to allow you to click on something that indicates when the player makes a decision, he is OK with skipping the countdown to the next step. This is especially evident with the insurance bet.

Live dealer play is always slow. It helps to have a table to yourself.

On most poker sites you can make your decision in advance, including conditional decisions like "Check if nobody raises." However, with this software at least, you can't. I've seen another live dealer place where everybody played against the same hand, which helped.

At this place sometimes the players try to flirt with the dealer or fight with each other to kill the down time.

I'll waive the 20 push ups, i'm just glad the info on the U.K variant page is correct, and that the error was on the new page... i wasn't sure which way round the error was.

I only noticed it because i recently referenced that page. We had a real high roller whale come in, he wanted to play Baccarat, and we offer the commission free 'U.K variant'. He was used to traditional Baccarat, and wanted to know the difference in the house edge between them, so i printed out that page and showed it to him. Even quipping that he could take these figures to the 'Bank', or 'Player' if he prefers, after he asked how reliable the info was, and that it was the most reliable gaming info on the web. After we established that Player was the better bet, he then proceeded to bet table max on Player to the tune of a six figure loss, so i'm glad i wasn't indirectly responsible for that by providing incorrect information... Never doubted you for a second!

I still feel I owe a debt to my readers for the error so I still consider it a debt, should we ever meet.

Yes, that commission free baccarat page has been up for years and I'm sure referring to thousands of times. I just got confused for a moment when I wrote up that new page. Glad all is good with your whale and we can't be blamed for the six-figure loss.
