Well, I wish you did have a better title that would draw people interested to this topic. :/
But basically, this very elementary model can be programmed or manipulated to cheat, that is to say set the cards up in a non-random fashion, favoring, whoever it is the programmer wants to benefit, player or house.
So if this most elementary shuffle machine can be programmed to do this, why would anyone in their right mind think that the much more sophisticated, commercial shufflers can't? They absolutely can. (anyone that has had access to a machine knows this)
And once you accept that these machines have this ability, maybe not programmed that way from the manufacturer, but the capability with a relatively minor adjustment or reprogram, then the only question becomes would the casino industry, who has proven to be so honest and high integrity, risk using this technology? And anyone who answers that question "no", I say you don't know this industry very well and as proof, I refer you to the "Mindplay" case. The casino Industry KNEW Mindplay technology was illegal and used it anyway until the gaming commission made them stop.

#2 change the game to turn the odds back in favor of the casino, through more frequent card-shuffling or other methods
THAT IS CHEATING by gaming commission definition.
Blackjack is a little different than other casino games in that sometimes the remaining cards favor the player and sometimes favor the house. Essentially they were shuffling away the rounds that favored the player, but playing out the rounds that favored the house, resulting in a much bigger house edge. Again, that is illegal by rule.
In the end the casino industry got caught in their own lie. They told the gaming commission that the purpose of Mind Play was to more accurately rate players for purposes of comps. So Gaming made a ruling that they could use Mind Play with a delay, 13 hand delay I believe, instead of real time. This would mean that they couldn't shuffle away a players advantage in real time, but could still have that benefit of more accurately comping players. Funny thing Mind Play died after that ruling, proving the intent was not about comping players.....the intent was the ability to cheat in real time.

And this is why casinos are The Enemy and should be treated as such. Jesus, this stuff is evil. The house edge isn't enough. Why don't they at least allow us to claim them as dependents?
The end of The Stand is fitting.

I've got the shuffler at 50 seconds in. Have the batteries started leaking yet? It's been sitting around more than all century. I wasn't very impressed with this shuffler, but I can't shuffle so it's better than nothing. I also had 2 cases of WalMart bought casino chips but they've gone missing.
