Potentially interesting topics: Semi-Professional Gaming, Professional Poker, 2 Man Blackjack Team, Hole Card Team (structure, compensation, management, pit falls, player emotions, etc).
Of course we have some more interesting stories to share as well, just thought I'd throw some gambling related topics out =).
Oh there's a very simple answer for that, perhaps we'll get in to it, perhaps not =p. I enjoy the gambling discussion, but am an open book... for the most part =).Quote: odiousgambitDefinitely discuss the split personality of Romes the Pedantic vs Romes the Wild Man - we got a taste of the latter the last time you were on, whereas your Persona at this site is more the former. Well, we got an exception to that with the "hookers and blow" advocacy for a while LOL
Do you even lift?
Have you ever saved a child from burning building?
Why are the Seahawks so awesome?
Is bitcoin going to go up some more?
Why do kids love cinnamon toast crunch?
Best thing about being an AP
Worst thing about being an AP
Quote: BobDancerWe are taping a podcast with Romes on January 27. I'm not sure when it will be aired --- probably mid-February.

With all due respect to Romes, skip him. Aimee would be ratings gold. Make it happen!

I'll lay 11 to 10 she wouldn't beat the ratings for Cocktail Doll.
Houyi v. Romes: East meets West in the Thunderdome
:-P
Answers in bold... didn't think these would make the show so thought I'd just answer them for you here. You're welcome.Quote: djatcQuestions for Romes:
Do you even lift? Yes, but hit the punching bag and train more often
Have you ever saved a child from burning building? No... on my bucket list though.
Why are the Seahawks so awesome? The Seahawks blow because they refused to give the ball to one of the best running backs ever on the 1 yard line of the super bowl then threw an interception to lose the game.
Is bitcoin going to go up some more? Yes, slowly... but then it's going to eventually crash. Buy now, sell by the end of the year, profit... I also have no financial expertise with bitcoin so take that in to consideration.
Why do kids love cinnamon toast crunch? It's in the name... It's cinnamon, shaped like toast, and it CRUNCHES!
And of my posting on here and my last appearance on the show, what would make you think I'd expose any plays? =)Quote: WizardofnothingIf you are sharing stories maybe stay away from the sexually related ones.... bob tends to get a little off when you go into that topic. -also please don't expose any plays !!!!!!!!!!
Is Cocktail Doll still around? Does she still work at NYNY's prime shifts?Quote: WizardI'll lay 11 to 10 she wouldn't beat the ratings for Cocktail Doll.
Overall, which would you prefer?
I play professional poker and recently come across other lucrative schemes. I thought easy money, no doubt, but every time I go in, I always have to expect to get banned soon or later. Or sometimes you have to look for a partner, helper, employee to maximize the scheme, but u never know if that person is trustworthy/competent or not.
With poker, solo, calm, no bans, however its such a grind. Hours (live), volume (online), downswing, Variance etc :)
Both definitely have their advantages and disadvantages. I'll add this to my list of possible topics =).Quote: JohnJoseph27Romes, please talk about your opinion on Poker vs others (blackjack, slots, teams).

That would be an impossible bet to settle as we don’t have really good numbers on how many listeners we have. Over time, however, we have picked up more listeners and it is my best guess that in general the ratings are considerably higher today than they were five years ago, on February 16, 2012, which is when the Cocktail Doll episode was taped.
Dolly Wong, the webmaster of coctaildoll.com, is/was a friend of Shack’s. I wasn’t sure what a cocktail waitress would add to the show, but we go through guests quickly and I let him talk me into it. Shack was looking forward to going out for a drink with Dolly afterward to catch up. I didn't care about that one way or the other. Mike is married and I didn’t think it would turn out to be more than a drink --- but I didn’t ask detailed questions and I didn’t ask to be a third wheel.
When Dolly showed up, she brought her boy toy with her. This guy struck me as a “new guy,” because all through the interview Dolly and her beau had their hands all over each other. This had the effect of keeping her sexual hormones quite activated --- and that was evident in her her answers to some of the questions. It was a bit distracting to me --- and I suspect a bit disheartening to Mike because he realized his plans for taking Dolly out for a drink afterwards weren't going to be realized.
Aimee seems like a nice young lady – I haven't read her entire thread as that's not where my interest lies and I pick and choose which threads to read --- but that’s really not where the show is focused these days. I take seriously the pledge that you’ll know a bit more about advantage gambling after the show than you did before. Neither Richard nor I are cruising for 21-year-old girls --- and at this point in her life Aimee is essentially clueless about intelligent gambling --- so there’s really no reason for her to be on the air.
So while I think Shack’s bet would be a bad one --- simply because in general the show is much more popular than it was five years ago not to mention the lack of hard data --- he is also safe because Aimee isn’t coming on the air until she actually becomes a strong player and has something to teach us.
Although things could change, if somebody wanted to bet whether Aimee would ever be a guest on the show, the best bet now would be 'no.'

Aimee (if she is genuine) could be an interesting opportunity to demonstrate application of the knowledge shared on the show. Maybe do a "live" play-by-play broadcast of her "newbie" approach to a casino. How does someone with no background evaluate the various offerings in a casino? Have her pick games she finds attractive, and get her to explain why she thinks they are "good", then explain how she can select the best games, and play them to minimize the house edge or even get an advantage. Later, get an update, and her impressions of whether the advantage plays she learned from you made a difference.
There's an audience for this type of material, as folks are turning 21 everyday.

I think that posts sums up my earlier request of romes
Quote: RomesAnswers in bold... didn't think these would make the show so thought I'd just answer them for you here. You're welcome.
Thanks romes. Bob should put these questions on the show, it's what the people want! I agree about the super bowl play, have no idea on the e.v of passing vs running on the 1.
Lynch on caries from the 1 that season: 1 TD, total of -1 yards.
There were 109 pass attempts from the 1 in that NFL season, and that was the first one to be intercepted.
It was right to call a pass play. It was wrong to throw the ball into a sea of a dozen players
Quote: TomGIf they ran the ball four times and didn't score, everyone currently whining that the pass was the wrong call would be whining that they needed to pass at least once.

Well, they had 3 downs and one TO. So they'd have to pass once, almost for sure. Doing it there, kept all their options open. If they run there, you know the next play is a pass, almost 100%.
Wasn't even a bad play, really. The pick on the corner had to fail. Then the corner had to make an incredible play.
Bob can surely correct me if I'm wrong, but it was my assumption the show guests are "almost" week to week with guests maybe being scheduled a couple weeks in advance. I don't know how possible it would be to have a static set schedule at that point. Things come up, plays come up, family happens, etc, so some people are available last minute while others must drop, etc, etc.Quote: MobcasinosHope they announce it soon so I can listen to them. I will be on a look out for the announcement by GWAE. Been an following GWAE episodes.

That's a fair statement.
Next week we're talking to Buddy Frank --- a slot director for many years, most notably Pechanga, a casino north of San Diego that's bigger than any in Nevada --- on how slot directors look at strong players today versus five years ago. And bunches of other things.
We have Romes coming up. We seem to be stuck with him since Aimee got outed.
We have Frank B on Superbowl prop bets on February 2. The Wizard has been invited but so far hasn't seemed interested.
We're going to interview Ed Thorp on his new book soon.
We are ALWAYS looking for knowledgeable interesting guests.
We have a couple of others "sometime soon" but nothing definite yet.
I was joking about being stuck with Romes. We very much want him on the air and Aimee was never under consideration.
I think an "interesting" question might be if he was personally aware of any "offers" his casino(s) made that he figured out could be quite +EV plays for AP's. Also, if there were any promotions they had that after the fact he thought "yeah some AP's probably got us on this..." I'd love to know the thought process of the slot director in reference to strong players and promotions =).Quote: BobDancerThat's a fair statement.
