I'm new to craps, so please forgive if this is a dumb question...

Say I play the Don't Pass, a point is established, and I lay odds on my Don't Pass. Then, I make a Place Bet against the point. Essentially, I've doubled up my payout if a 7 is rolled. Can I then make a Come bet? Or do I have to make a Don't Come because I am still on a Don't Pass?

Essentially, can I make a Don't Pass & Come Bet, or do the bets have to be Don't Pass & Don't Come OR Pass & Come?

Thanks for your help.

You can make a Come Bet with DP action, you can bet Pass and Don't Pass at the same time, not only will the casino not mind they will actually like you since you are making it harder for yourself to win. AFIK the only things you absolutely cannot do in craps are:

1. Place a Don't Pass bet when a point is established
2. Pick up a Pass Bet when a point is established.
3. Add to a DP/DC bet when a point is established.

I might be missing something, but I think that covers most of it. You can add/remove place bets at will as well as change hardways.

If I am missing something please post it. My mind is on Festivus and trying to get Steve Wynn here so I can air grievences about 6:5 BJ.

You can make any bets you've a mind and a wallet to make. It will often confuse the hell out of the poor dealers, but its your money.

I often am on Don't Pass but then make two Come Bets and then switch to Don'tCome bets as I feel the inevitable 7 is approaching.
It confuses even the most experienced dealers but if it turns out to be a winning strategy, its great fun.

Note: A place to lose bet is rare. Do you mean a Lay Bet?

I've been messing around on a free online site, what I've been playing says "Place 4 Lose" (if the point is 4)

As I've been understanding, If a 7 is rolled before the point, it pays out...

Yes, but it pays out at Place Bet odds and you would be better off adding to the odds on the DontPass bet which pays off at true odds.
Can anyone help me out here... I rarely know what I'm talking about.

This made me smile. Will there be feats of strength as well?

Yes there will be. Michael Shackleford will be doing pushups as he pays off a few prop bets.

In Ireland (where the holiday is also know in Irish as Féilteabhus) there is the traditional Festivus Pub Crawl, similar to the more common "12 Pubs of Christmas." In the course of the day the international traditions of Airing of Grievances and Feats of Strength are combined into the crawl.

Proving once again the old adage " You can always tell an Irishman, you just can't tell him much" LOL

Just kidding, my mother's maiden name was Bailey from County Cork, she of the Lace Curtain irish,
