say i am playing come bets, 5 flat

and one CB has traveled to the 10 and I take the max odds of 3, so 5 flat and 15 odds

now i have another $5 CB and the 10 hits, so pays, off and on, for 35

can I drop another 5 and say take my flat to $10 and press my odds to 30, or does a $10 bet have to travel there to go higher then 3x on my odds?

anyone play this way? better options? (i would would to have a 10x odds or 20x odds table, but my casino availability is 3-4-5x)

You'd be better off to double park the 10 for another $20, so you have a $5 flat, $15 odds, and a $20 place (or buy) bet.

You are talking about making a simultaneous settled come bet with appropriate odds. You gain absolutely no advantage doing it this way, for the 4/10 you're better off buying it (even with commission).

https://wizardofodds.com/games/craps/basics/#toc-PutBets

"At casinos that offer 3-4-5X odds, or worse, there is no reason to make a put bet, because you will do equal or bettor to make a place or buy bet."

Maybe I should ask my question another way

is it legal for me to do that, pressing the flat, after a lower come flat is there, so that i can go higher in odds?

so if at 3-4-5x odds table and have a $5 come bet with odds, regardless of the number, then have another $5 come bet travel to any number, and say I decide that I want more odds

can I say, press the flat of the CB, to whatever $10 or $15 just as examples and take max odds

or does the amount of flat CB that I want have to travel there

Only if the particular casino you are playing at allows "put" bets.

Some states you can't do a put-bet, I believe, like New Jersey or Pennsylvania.

Some places in Vegas won't let you do put-bets, usually places with 10x or higher odds. But many places with 3-4-5x odds will let you do a put-bet.

Just say something like, "Make it look like 10 flat with 30 odds".

My suggestion would be -- if you're in a situation where you're likely to increase your bet soon, like if the shooter is on a good roll and you're going to start pressing, just bet $10 come bet instead of waiting for the $5 to get moved somewhere just to be pressed. Of course, you can't choose the next number the come bet travels to, so if you only want to press a certain number, that won't really work. But this is also incredibly annoying to dealers, especially at a busy/full table to have players increasing their come bets...especially if the player is alternating amounts on come bets, makes it more confusing to do off-and-on. Then again, it's also kinda annoying to have someone press their flat bet -- although that's usually because the player doesn't know how to describe what he wants done and/or he says it too late.

I hope the OP is not thinking he is 'pulling something' by essentially what is just making a put bet with odds. [Actually, the casinos that don't allow that are just passing up on better house advantage. I guess they prefer to keep their training simpler for dealers?]

But maybe this is just about getting the number the OP wants to bet on. If so, then the correct answer has been given: buy bet for the 4 or 10 is the way to go with 3x4x5x.

As a newbie question it is interesting, because over time most players do not feel good about having a 4 or 10 to resolve as a rightside bettor. The OP will soon arrive there I predict.

Agree, the dealer will be mystified as to what the OP wants here, and it sounds like he is going to use the term 'flat bet' which is not heard at a Craps table.

At my local in Milwaukee, they have no problem with this.

I have on occasion seen players bump up the flat of an existing come bet to increase the odds action on that bet.

In some cases, the player threw out more odds than the flat would allow (10x, at Potawatomi), and the dealer just asked for another nickel to add to the flat come to support the odds.

maybe this way

soon as hit max odds of 3x on the 4 and 10,

just come off the odds, leaving the $5 CB naked and buy it

*examples, $5 flat with 15 odds and want to go to 20 odds, come off the odds, then buy it for 25 (the 5 cb and 5 odds additional that would have been needed), 49 for the buy and $5 for the naked come, for 54, versus the10 flat and 20 odds paying 50

*example $5 flat, come with 15 odds, wanting to go to 30 odds, come off the odds, then buy it for 35, paying 69 and the 5 for naked come, so 74, versus 10 flat and 30 odds for 70

*last one, $5 flat with 15 odds and want to go to 40 odds, come off the odds, buy the 10 for 50, so pays 98 and the 5 naked for a total of 103, versus 15 flat and the 40 odds for 95

did the same scenario for the 6/8 and 5/9, on those its better to press the come flat to take the extra odds

Mike, I think you are too focused on what you *can* do and not focused enough on what is smart to do. There's just no need for all this manipulation of the bets and the odds while increasing the house advantage to do so.

what would be the mart thing for me to do? (I am actually asking, for a 3-4-5x situation, what would you recommend)

other then not play craps at all :)

forget about bet combinations

try to clue in on the kind of variance you are comfortable with. If you find you want to hedge, you may just be
reacting to getting more variance than you can stomach. So less come bets and less on your odds bet - do 2x instead of 3x4x5x
