Evidently, the original thread was deleted for some reason while I was replying to it. I'm not sure why it was deleted, as it seems like a legit question. My only guess is it was some snafu with the auto spam cleansing algorithm. Anyways, it's a legit question, and I had already written out a reply, so here goes:

This may be a silly question to some but I will ask anyway

After a place bet on a number establishes ( when the number hits ) I understand you win when the number hits again.
What happens to the bet on the number and the odds if a 7 is rolled? Do you loose it all? keep the odds?

Welcome to the Forums, PalmsGas! There are no silly questions here... well I guess there may be some, but yours' is not one! :)

However, I think you may be confusing a "place" bet with a "come" bet.

Place bets go up on the number that you request, regardless of the number rolled, and cannot have odds bets associated with them. All working place bets lose when a 7 is rolled.

Come bets go up on the number that is rolled (assuming it is a point number), and then you can bet odds on it after it goes up. You win this bet if that number rolls again before the 7. If the 7 rolls first, you lose.

For come bet odds bets, if they are "working", they win when the established number rolls, and lose when a 7 rolls. If they are not "working," there is no action, and the odds bet is returned to you whether the point is rolled or a 7 is rolled. Note that by default, odds bets are always "working" except on the shooter's come-out roll, unless you request differently.

For example, let's say the point is 8, and you place a come bet. The next roll is 9, so your bet goes up on the 9, and you also then make an odds bet on your 9. If the next roll is a 9, you win both the come and the odds bets. If a 7 rolls instead, you lose both bets.

However, let's say instead of a 9 or 7, the shooter rolls an 8, making his point. In this case, the odds are not working (unless you request the dealer to keep the odds working) on the shooter's next roll (which will be a come-out roll). If a 9 rolls on the come-out, you win your come bet, and the odds are returned to you. Conversely, if the 7 rolls, you lose your come bet, but the odds are again returned to you.

I hope this helps!

Joe, you explained that part very well.

I'm gonna add something that tends to confuse newbies - where the chips sit on the layout. knowing this will help players tell the difference in the bet type, as well as whose bets are whose.

Place bets sit on the line, while Come bets sit next to the line, inside the box, with odds on top, slightly offset.

Except on mini tables, there is room for 4 bets on the front and 4 on the back of the boxes. Chips sitting at the front of the box are for the 4 people squeezed together at the front of the table, relative to their position. Chips sitting at the back of the box are similarly for the people at the side of the table, with the relative position turned so the chips fit nicely.

That's how the crew keeps track of each person's bets.

This same type of relative positioning is used for the Hard Way boxes.

Although the prop bet boxes are smaller, the same type of positioning is still used. However, these tend to be less popular bets, and only active for one roll, so smaller boxes are used to fit more on the layout.
