Now if I were going to place the 6 and 8, plus 2 come bets then I should probably just put those right?
I would be inclined to not do it at all, but ....
At 10x odds or better it is not such a big deal. 2x, or 3x4x5x , then I wouldn't do it for sure.
And I would only do it when you like the number, perhaps you like to have a 6 or 8 - you can keep that. Or since they take put bets, you could always have both going from the start. Might be fun, and on 6/8 a 6:5 against pays even money on the portion .... doesn't sound like such suicide.
You shouldn't be gambling away all the kids college funds. Craps is always -ev and reserved only for suckers.Quote: GWAEWas playing last night at a place I have never been room normally I play pass and 2 come bets. After I had 2 up, 1 of them won. The dealer asked if I wanted to just keep it up. I was a little confused, then I realized they allow put bets. If in am playing 10 pass with $100 odds is a $110 put bet what I should be doing or stick to the come and odds? I assume the put is not the way to go since the $10 portion at even money has a high House edge without the winning on 7/11?

When you play for comps it's the meal ticket.

oh come on, do you scold golfers, hunters, sports-fishing guys, balloonists, etc., who [potentially] spend much more for their entertainment?

Craps by itself is always -ev. Some marketing departments aren't so good with math.
Now what about placing a 6. Would you be better off placing a 60 for 60 or putting a 10 with 50 odds? I guess I can figure it out when I get home but we are driving now.
"This option should never be taken at a casino that offers less than 5 times odds. At 5 times odds exactly, the put bet on the 6 and 8 is slightly better than the place bet. At 10 times odds or greater, all put bets become better than their corresponding place or buy bets."
Of course, in all but the rarest of circumstances where there is some sort of casino marketing incentive that turns the game positive, you're eventually going to lose every dollar you choose to put into action on craps. Let me say that again: You will lose. Every. Single. Dollar. It is a mathematical certainty - the game itself is unbeatable. Keep that in mind when you are deciding whether and for how much you want to play this game.

Thank you for that post. I hope every one in the business takes that to heart!
