Quote: WizardThat's never happened to me. Are you sure you weren't on the don't pass?
Positive it would've been on the pass line because I've never touched dontpass in my short craps career. Its happened either at Barona or Harrahs Rincon both in San Diego. Now that I think about it, it may have only happened at Barona where they have flat 5x odds. And I may be getting it confused with a come bet with 5x odds. I know this has happened at least twice where I've put down the max odds, and they tell me I can go up 1x. Next time it comes up I'll make sure to ask.
Could it possibly be that the table was flat 5x odds, point was 5 or 9, $5 on the pass, and they say I can go to $30 since it would be an even amount and easier to pay? Thus making it 6x? Maybe that's what happened. Sorry for the confusion, it's not a big deal I'll just ask next time it comes up

That is very plausible. Ycbot is in SD, so they were probably at barona when it happened. I think Rincon is 345.

Here's a description of a similar situation
If an even number is the objective, then $26 odds would serve perfectly. That they allow going to $30 makes it sound as if they are looking for an easier payoff, one that doesn't have to deal with $1 cheques.Quote: SamhainCould it possibly be that the table was flat 5x odds, point was 5 or 9, $5 on the pass, and they say I can go to $30 since it would be an even amount and easier to pay? I think it is just easier to tell people they can do 6x instead of the even number past 4x
Maybe they don't want to have it on the record, and anyway that sounds a lot more complicated to me and other average craps players.Quote: GWAEI think it is just easier to tell people they can do 6x instead of the even number past 4x

That makes the most sense to me. If it were 3x4x5x I would think they'd tell you $20 is the max odds on a point of 5 or 9.
