Simple question. Can't find answer online. Can you play the Any 7 on the come out roll?

Only bets you can't play on the come out are COME and DON'T COME. PASS and DON'T PASS are the same bets at that point.

Here's a hedge play for those with fairly deep pockets.

Go to a table with high odds, such as Main Street Station with 20X odds.

Bet thirty dollars each on the come out roll on Pass and Don't Pass, and a dollar midnight (one roll bet on twelve): this is your hedge, to get you through the come out.

At most it will cost a few bucks until a point is set, e.g. a buck for each midnight lost to a natural or a crap number until the point is set.

When a point is set, bet $600 in odds.

If you're going to bet the any 7 for more than $2, hop the 7 three ways instead. $3 any seven pays 15 for 3 (5 for 1, 4 to 1). Hopping each of the sevens for $1 each pays 16 for 1 (15 to 1). If you happen to be playing at a casino that only pay 15 for 1 on the hops (Caesars), they are the same bet.

Basically, you should never play the any 7 bet. You can usually make an equivalent bet that pays better, this is big 6/8 all over again.

I saw a guy roll three sevens in a row. I dropped $3 and said, "I'll put a stop to that. Hopping red..."

Another seven! I dropped a buck and said, "parlay the hop."

Another seven! I picked up my $70, and that's when it ended. :)

In the late 80's, I purchased a casino game for the PC. The manual included not only how each game was played, but tips on what and what not to bet.

At the time, software was easily copied and shared (pirated), and one technique to prevent this was for a program to ask "Challenge Questions" from the User Manual in order for it to function. You would load the program & it would come up and ask a question. Get it right and it would run fine, get it wrong and it would shut down/lock you out (you would sometimes get a second or third chance if you got the first one wrong). The theory was that while the software may be easily shareable, it was harder to distribute copies of the manual. Well, this was one such program.

One question I remember was, "When should you bet Any 7?" The correct answer, according to the manual: "not even in your dreams!"
"Dealer has 'rock'... Pay 'paper!'"
