I have been to the SLS a few times recently. I have to first say that I like the SLS. But it's worth noting that they have been making continuous improvements on their craps tables and actually even focus on craps being an important element to their pit presence.
Some recent improvements:
#1) 10x odds will always be available
#2) $5 minimums will always be available
#3) New player card system may make improvements for comps (unsure of details of new card program except 1000 points = $4 versus the normal $3 I think).
If one table is operating, it will be 10x odds with $5 minimum and $2,000 maximum.
If two or more tables are operating, one will offer $5 minimums, and the 10x odds table will more likely be a $10 minimum. This incentives the $50 odds 10x players (at $5 mins) to come in when it's not as busy from my view.
The limits are $2,000 flat ($20,000 odds max) for a 10x table and $5,000 flat ($25,000 odds max on 6/8 point) for the 345x tables. IE: they offer both 10x and 345x, but always offer 10x on at least one (or exactly one) table.
They have ALWAYS offered free drinks to people just watching the game even if they do not have chips. I have seen folks taking advantage of this fact, and they are never scolded for not playing. This will NOT continue in my view, but if you want free energy drinks or free alcohol, they are giving it away at the moment. Please do not abuse this policy as it will disappear more quickly the more it is abused. But this is a HUGE difference from the other casinos in town and how they deal with non-gamblers at a table.
I have seen $5,000 flat with max odds and continuous come multiple times at the SLS. The only other casinos I have EVER seen this are:
1) Wynn
2) Aria
3) Cosmopolitan
4) Palazzo
I know it happens occasionally at other casinos as well, these are just the places where I have seen it.
When a casino is getting $5,000 flat continuous come with 345x odds, they are really putting the pedal to the metal with craps and embracing this kind of action.
I have never seen $2,000 flat with 10x odds, but it should be a little more exciting with $20,000 odds on the four and ten instead of $15,000. Mostly the same for the exposure to the casino, though.
Right now, as of this moment, I am voting the SLS as the #1 best place to play craps in the world.
They will bring out the $25,000 chips for the high rollers, and it's exciting even just to watch if you've never seen it.
Kudos to the SLS!
Here's a good question: If you are a high-limit player who always plays max action on the come (Phil Ivey, et al.), would you play the 10x game with $2,000+$20,000=$22,000 on every point, or the 3x4x5x game with $20,000-$25,000-$30,000 on every point?

I disagree wholeheartedly. However, your perspective is very likely valid assuming that you are a professional +EV gambler.
I don't know that they are truly giving money away. I only know that they treat their customers who are just there to have fun properly.
If you're not there to have fun, and you're serious about taking as much money as you can get away with, personally, and in my opinion, your perspective is irrelevant to their business model.
I am applauding their ability to run a good business. Not sure what you're implication is, but maybe you could elaborate on how they could improve their business.
I would be very surprised if they didn't read this forum post, so maybe you could help them if you have a valid complaint.
Quote: MoosetonI take it they have Red Bull too?
Yes. I usually get two while I'm there. On my last visit, I came back as they were closing the table (the pic) and they STILL comp'd me a red bull with no chips on the rail.
That is FAR AND AWAY the best in Clark County when it comes to Red Bull Policies.
Earlier in the same day, another casino that is beating me had to "check with the pit boss to get an approval" when I asked for a red bull. They didn't serve it in a can because they didn't want anyone else to see that I was getting one. (Silverton). This is still an improvement from before, but you have to be at least platinum AND get verbal approval from the pit to receive a Red Bull at the Silverton.

What's Casino Royal's craps look like now-a-days?
still 20x with $3 min and 100x if $5 min?
Still miss Bally's at Tunica in early 2000.
$0.25 min with 20x odds.
too bad that casino floated away (literally) during a hurricane. :(

Casino Royale went from 1 table with $3 minimum and 20x odds to adding a second table where at least one of them offers 100x odds again (at $5 denominations). I played here just a few weeks ago and noticed that 100x was back.
I would still rate SLS overall above Casino Royale, however. However, I must admit, I have never seen 100x action of any sort at Casino Royale. The biggest action I have ever seen at Casino Royale is my own action. And that's sad.
If my personal rating were math alone, Casino Royale would get it. But I'm talking about the experience of the game itself, not the lowest limits, or the maximum odds. IE: assuming you are playing the game to have fun, this is the best place to go IMO right now today.
But seriously, I'm a little surprised at how few $1 chips there are. Only two rows on each side? Don't most casinos have four or five rows of $1 chips? Whatever.
Definitely would give it a try.Quote: AhighCasino Royale went from 1 table with $3 minimum and 20x odds to adding a second table where at least one of them offers 100x odds again (at $5 denominations). I played here just a few weeks ago and noticed that 100x was back.

Casino Royale is the only casino in the world where I have regularly been the largest player at the table. It is sad, given that my highest play seems so low in so many other places...

many years ago when Casino Royale allowed Put bets, there was this one guy who would regularly come in and do Passline/100x odds then Put bets on every non-point # w/100x odds.
it's a shame they got rid of Put bets late last decade. :(
are there any current casinos w/at least 10x odds that allow Put bets?

Here's the original image which is even higher resolution. The camera on the S6 edge is amazing. Getting such a high quality photo like this in a casino environment without pissing anyone off (which hopefully nobody is pissed off even after learning I did take the photo) is certainly not easy.

Wow! I've been to the current Bally's Tunica - where was the old site? What hurricane was strong enough to cause issues that far inland?
SLS > Casino Royale, I get the creeps playing there.
Honestly 10X odds on a 5 minimum sounds pretty damn good and if that's true I'd definitely be in there for a game in August. Playing new tables is an obsession of mine. Btw are the SLS tables bouncier than the table you have at home? Do they pay 3-1 on the field 12?

I played at SLS my last two times in town. I like it, the craps crew is decent, the place is clean and
the air system works good. The craps table is a little bouncy for my taste, but the 12 footers and
the ATS bet make it an attractive place to play.
As far as tables are concerned I like the table at 4 queens, the Grand and the far west table at
Gold Coast with the repeater bet. The Hardrock table is a little tall for me, but it has the best
table bounce in town.

That's his opinion, cut him some slack. There's some place in the world that has a break even bet or even a +EV situation perhaps with mail. Obviously that should be #1. But he's saying the overall environment is better than most.Quote: AussieWhich casinos overseas have you played craps in to be able to legitimately make they claim that SLS is the best in the world?

You should reread his post.
Will check out the place next time I'm there though.
I'm voting the LV Montecito the best in the place to play craps, and I rarely play craps.Quote: AussieNo need to re-read. He said he's voting it best place to play craps in the world. I just find that a little odd unless you have played extensively around the world.

I vote for Casino Royale as having the best craps game.

I've tried finding the Montecito in Vegas, but it's as if it's up near the Stratosphere one week and down near Mandalay Bay the next...and nothing new ever seems to happen there during the summer.

Axel double posted, again. Closing in on that #1 spot one post at a time, or 2-3 posts at a time ;-)
Who was it that fell off the top five? pacoMartin?
Just having fun, tee hee!
I do better on my table than others... that is for sure.
In Wisconsin there is a very small casino that bought a 9-10 footer that is
almost square, very small corners and it has a real good bounce. They just
took it out of the back room after 22 years and are using it. Now there is a
wonderful table.
I remember when they got it 22 years ago and when they were not using
it I tried to buy it many times. But I am very happy to see it once again
and played on it three times now and did ok two of the three.
This table is only 20 minutes from my lake cabin.

Curious, if you have a second...why would some one who is convinced he/she can influence the dice with their throw prefer or even play at a table with a "good bounce"? It seems like the more bounce the less control one would have on the landing of said throw perfected.
ps: Be careful at your cabin. The prisoners who escaped in New York are still on the loose and may end up in your area..no one really knows.
Careful when you go up to the roof, though...could get a tad breezy... :)Quote: AxelWolfI'm voting the LV Montecito the best in the place to play craps, and I rarely play craps.

I loved that show, although that was a particularly silly episode. Laura Flynn Boyle or whatever her name is, flew off the roof in a gust of wind and down the strip, eventually crashing into a boutique in the Wynn. That was late in the show's run, when the storylines were getting a little goofy.

Yeah, and chasing a couple of card counters from a team all the way across town to a restaurant then demanding to take their pictures on someone else's property.

how about the fact the valet guy was allowed into the surveillance room, regularly.
(guess the show's producers finally heard enuf about that and changed his job such that he doesn't look out of place being in the surveillance room.)

Keeneone,
Business has been very slow, they only keep 1 table open now during weekdays most of the time. it's CR-601, right in front of the Katsuza restaurant. Min 10, 10x Odds, 2000 Max. 12 does pay Triple.
And as far as 5 dollars minimum, it's long gone.
Quote: tommyngo215And as far as 5 dollars minimum, it's long gone.
Do you know when it stopped? I haven't been there since my visit to Las Vegas last January, when I played $5 minimum craps at the SLS mid-afternoon (2:30 to 3:30).
Oh by the way, LIFE is closed for good. If you're coming back soon, then check out FOX Tail club and the pool instead.
Quote: tommyngo215800 degrees Pizza. .
What is 800 degrees Pizza? Thanks.
It's sort of like Subway or Chipotle, in that you pick your ingredients on a line-kind of thing. They put the ingredients on the (uncooked) pizza, then throw it in the 800 degree oven. It cooks in like 1 minute or something, so you pretty much don't have to wait at all for your custom pizza.
Supposedly its old world traditional pizza located world wide. The thin crust is made with only, flour, salt, water and wild yeast and baked in a wood burning fire place. 800 degrees is supposed to represent the temp it's quickly cooked at(less than 2 minutes).Quote: NokTangWhat is 800 degrees Pizza? Personally I like deep-dish way better.
Thanks to both of you. I'm so isolated here with only McDonalds, Pizza Hut(which sucks), Dominos(which also sucks), Subway, Burger King(which sucks big time except for the hash browns), well you get the point. We do have some real pizza but no Chicago style deep dish. Only local beers as well but they are quite good. Due to the heat, you have to drink them with ice. Hooters is coming soon!

Thailand, near Bangkok.
Pizza, I recommend there, though. I haven't had the Sushi yet, but it's top quality and priced accordingly. I have seen Steve Wynn himself eating at the Sushi restaurant.
It will be interesting to see what happens between the SLS and the Wynn now that one has moved to 10x and one has moved to 2x. Maybe there is an informal challenge between two folks (one at the Wynn and one at the SLS) to see if it's about the math or about the players (the ones who care less about the math and more about the service and treatment they receive).
Next move could be Wynn going to 10x or the SLS going to 2x or something completely unexpected.
It is very unusual to see both of these properties fooling with their odds multiples though. This is relatively rare for any big property to go away from 345x in either direction, but one after another is very unusual, really.
June 15: SLS goes to 10x on one table and 345x on the remaining tables (always 10x available) - first casino that I know of in Las Vegas to feature different odds multiples dependent on table you are playing on
July 10: Wynn goes from 345x to 2x on the main floor and 345x in the high limit only ($100 min) - following SLS's lead to offer multiple odds configurations (per table) in one casino
I should run a casino. I swear I'd put everyone else out of business.
First two things I would do...advertise the pool being open past 5pm (open very late...maybe 24 hrs), and advertise no resort fees. I would HAMMER other casinos in advertising for not doing this and clearly demonstrating their greed. I would advertise that we truly care about the customer, not making sure that the customer is gambling.
Also, I would make the casino floor feel open with windows, etc. I love that place in the quad that is wide open.
